Another in the series of cars that were once everywhere but are now nowhere. I mean… they are rarely seen today. Dark Cherry Red Metallic is a beautiful color for this 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera SL Series I sedan, and the seller has it posted here on craigslist in Wallington, New Jersey. They’re asking $3,200, here is the original listing, and thanks to Zen for the tip!

A one-owner car with just 77,629 miles, this car is barely broken in yet. The seller is very light on photos and even lighter on info; they don’t even list what the engine is, let alone show a photo of it. It looks like another very nice car, though, and it’s impossible to argue with a $3,200 asking price if it’s really as nice as it looks in the photos they’ve provided.

The Olds Cutlass Ciera was made from 1982 through 1996, and we recently saw a nice wagon version from 1993, a Cutlass Cruiser S in white here on Barn Finds. I wish we had photos of the underside and the trunk, but maybe the seller will send some if you ask them nicely… Oldsmobile dropped the two-door version after the 1992 model year, so all you got were two four-door sedans in either Series I trim (as seen here) or a higher Series II trim level. Or, two station wagon trim levels.

In 1996, the Cutlass name was dropped, and these front-drive A-body cars were known as the Ciera. As expected, this one has red velour, and the seats look nice, both front and rear. I don’t see any dash cracks or other big issues inside. You can tell this is the base Series I car as it doesn’t have power windows, which were standard on the Series II models.

The red velour engine also looks nice… The seller doesn’t list the engine at all, but the base Series I cars received GM’s 2.2-liter OHV inline-four with 120 horsepower and 130 lb-ft of torque. While the Series II cars got a four-speed automatic, the Series I cars, such as this example, got a three-speed automatic. The Series II cars got a 3.1-liter V6. The seller says this one-owner car has been adult-driven since new, it’s been well-maintained, and “runs excellent.” This looks like a really nice car for three grand to me. Have any of you owned a Cutlass Ciera from this era?

Would make a great daily driver. I do remember when these seemed to be everywhere, good, dependable transportation with a touch of flair.
Yes, very reliable cars. My uncle had a 92 Buick Century, same car.
Wow. Just like that Tempo. A super clean everyday car that you just don’t see anymore. And that price!!! You can’t get any kind of decent used car for that kind of money. Wallington NJ is up north in Bergen county.. its one of the most expensive counties in Jersey. ( they get snow and salt so you should take a good peek under it too) It was probably owned by someone older and sensible who can’t drive anymore. But I think overall this is a steal. These were ( are) good carsm my FIL had a mid 80’s one that was very nice, very comfortable. Very reliable. Great write up Scotty.
Agree w Azzurra and Driveinstile š š
My parents had a grey Cutlass Cierra with crank windows I believe but AC too. It had the V6. I always liked the shape of these. They had style. They ran theirs into the ground.
I remember thinking back in the 90’s how nobody will want to collect any of the vehicles from that era. But as time passes, you see people taking interest. People rode to school, grocery and church in them just as us geezers did in 60’s and 70’s muscle cars, yachts and collonades!
I had not seen one of these in years, but last month I parked next to one while grocery shopping. It looked tiny compared to the everything parked around it. I too remember these all over the place way back when. I preferred the look of the Buick’s but I would definitely pick one of these up as an occasional driver/grocery getter.
The listing is gone; most likely somebody scooped it up at that price.
Listing update, this one has been snapped up by someone, was it one of you?
Scotty, Iām probably in divorce court if I snap up another vehicle!
