33K-Mile One-Owner 1995 Oldsmobile Delta Eighty Eight Royale

33,832 miles in three decades? That’s the amount of driving that a lot of us do in a single year, so it’s always fun to see these ultra-low-mile cars from decades ago. A 1995 four-door sedan probably wouldn’t be on many wish lists, especially for Barn Finds readers who are more likely interested in muscle cars, but this 1995 Oldsmobile Delta Eight Eight Royale looks like a winner. It’s posted here on craigslist in Smithtown, New York, and the seller is asking $5,999. Here is the original listing, and thanks to Zen for the tip!

Medium Red Garnett Metallic is a beautiful color for this 88, or Eighty Eight, as they were known in this era. There was only a four-door sedan in this era, but I wonder what a two-door body style may have looked like… The Tenth-Generation Olds Eight Eight was made from 1992 through 1999 and was based on GM’s full-sized H-body platform, which was introduced in 1986 and had front-wheel drive.

The seller says this gorgeous car has just 33,832 miles on it and has had just one owner since 1995. They’re a dealer, in case you were wondering about a one-owner car being sold by someone else. The only thing I see inside or out is some flaking around the wide trim as shown in the rear-3/4 photo above. There are a few issues with flaking paint on the trim in various areas, so please check out the photos to see that. The trunk compartment looks great, and if that rear trim is the worst body issue after three decades, that’s not bad.

The flat Ruby Red velour seats aren’t much in the twisties, but I’m sure they’re supremely comfortable, and they look nice in the photos. The top of the steering wheel seems to be a bit discolored, and I always wonder if that’s due to not using one of those reflective sun shades in the windshield. I’m such a nerd, I use one every time I park and have for decades. The back seat looks like new, as does most of the interior.

A couple of hours of detailing could have made a world of difference under the hood. This is GM’s 3.8-liter OHV V6 with 205 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque. Backed by a four-speed automatic sending power to the front wheels, this car is said to run and drive like new, and with some touch-up work on the trim, it could look like new. Have any of you owned a tenth-gen Olds Eight Eight?

While this is not my favorite generation of Eighty Eights ( or 88’s or Eighty 8’s or…….. well……. Nevermind). I completely respect the care this Olds has received and the realistic price that’s being asked for it. The 3.8 V6 as many know is a terrific engine and gave these cars ample power. It’s funny you mentioned the 2 door Scotty. The ’86 and up models ( before this generation) did have a 2 door version and they looked rather nice too. I truly think that as time marches on, cars from this generation will become more collectable and harder to find, especially in this beautiful of a condition.

Thanks for mentioning the 2-door, D! I never know if anyone clicks on those things. They sometimes take an hour or more to make, so they’re more a labor of love than anything, as I don’t get paid to make them.

A person could do a lot worse than this car at this price. I’d bet it would last for a decade or two without much more than regular maintenance.

Nice call on the “Chapman lock”, AndyinMA! I didn’t even notice that! I love that folks are checking out the photos in detail.

I have had two of them, and they were both excellent cars.

I had a ’92 where I frankly wore the seat out, at about 150,000 miles.

My father in law was a mechanic, and he said “I found the perfect car for you, it’s got low miles, and just needs a detailing to be perfect.”

    It was a 1993 88.

After a few more years, I was really tired of 88s. They were excellent cars, but I wanted a change of scene.

There was a woman in my office, who had an adult daughter who more or less intentionally ruined her car, and wanted mommy and daddy to buy her a Miata. The woman said “I’ll help her out, but I’m not buying her a new car, let alone a Miata!”

I said “I have just the car for you. It’s big, safe, reliable, and she’s gonna hate it….”

So I sold her the 88, and a few months later, I asked how she likes the car. She said “My husband drove it and loves it, so he’s been driving it…”

I think it’s a little on the higher side price wise because of what state its in but it does have the engine that could get you to 300k miles if taken care of

It says “Deal Pending” in the text of the ad. I am not surprised because this has the feel of something that is going to be a super reliable car for not much money.

I had a 95, but mine was a LSS with the supercharged 3.8. Car was very quick for it’s time and rode even better when I replaced the rockhard Eagle GTs with a set of Michelins. It died a early death when it was totaled as the 4th car in a 5 car accident. I miss it.

I found a 1-owner ’95 LSS w/SC about 10 years ago on eBay and love it. In ’95 the SC Series I was only 20 more hp than the new Series II engine (55 more hp than the previous non-SC Series 1), but the torque is where it shines. Red like this one with gray leather. 105K miles and in much better shape than this one. After owning several C/H bodies from the ’90s, I’m skeptical of the mileage claim of this car for many reasons.
