If you’ve been in the market for an early F-Body project, this 1967 Pontiac Firebird seems to tick several of the right boxes, not the least being it’s a first-year model. Sporting a droptop is also an appealing feature, but coming from the factory with a 400 cubic-inch V8 should bring a smile to just about any pony car fan’s face, especially with Pontiac Historical Society documentation to back it up. This one’s been off the road and sitting since 1975, so it’s going to need some work, but the car comes with a clean title and $12,500 will make it yours.
Some bodywork has already been attempted here, but the seller doesn’t clarify how much of this was performed by himself or before he acquired the Firebird. I’m speculating that the passenger side front fender has been replaced, as the finish here matches no other panel, plus the quarters are showing signs of repair. The owner freely states that there’s some mud present on both sides and at a very minimum, I’d at least make sure it wasn’t applied over non-treated rust and isn’t showing any signs of weakness. However, a better bet would be to replace both quarters for peace of mind in the long run. Hopefully, the doors and rockers will all be salvageable.
There’s no word on why the car was parked in 1975 or whether or not the 400 will still turn, and also no information regarding the transmission except that it’s automatic. With all the time that has passed since this one was last on the road, it’s probably safe to say that they’ll both need a thorough going-through, but at least things under the hood don’t look like they have been tampered with extensively.
A couple of dash components are missing, but this one’s a factory A/C car, so it’s nice to see those vents inside. The front floors are showing holes, but the back area and trunk seem to have already been addressed. However, a new one-piece floor pan will be included in the sale, which seems like a smart way to go here. If you’re ready to restore this one then have some fun in the sun, the car is located in Jackson, Tennessee, and can be spotted here on eBay. What are your thoughts on this 1967 Pontiac Firebird Convertible?
Nothing will destroy a car quicker than covering it with a tarp and leaving it outside. This thing looks rough!
What a mess. The AC suitcase has been cut down and is unusable, it would be wise to see what other AC components are missing. The seller has mostly 67-68 Firebird parts currently listed or sold recently on his eBay account, hopefully none of those parts are needed for this car’s restoration. It’s rare and desirable but still needs to make sense to choose this car as a project over possible alternatives.
