Along with the Chevy Camaro, the Pontiac Firebird came forth in 1967 to join the “pony car” movement that Ford’s credited with starting. In the first year, they helped put a dent in the Mustang’s stronghold with 300,000 cars produced between the two. This ’67 Firebird convertible was purchased by the seller to be used as a donor for a project that has never come to fruition, so maybe someone else can give it a restoration instead. Located in Glassboro, New Jersey, the Pontiac is available here on eBay where the bidding has reached $5,600.
First-year Firebird production was 82,560 units of which 15,528 were convertibles, like the seller’s car. The seller’s bought this drop-top in 2012 to help with repairing a ’68 Firebird convertible that had been in a nasty accident. After nine years, the seller has realized that the project isn’t going anywhere and it’s time to let both cars go. The link to the red ’68 can be found here on eBay, too.
At one time, this Firebird may have already been a restoration candidate because it wears grey primer now instead of its factory color (maybe red). Although it’s spent nearly a decade in a heated garage, we’re told this car had lived outdoors for years. The seller doesn’t know what it would take to get it running as it wasn’t functional when he bought it. Under the hood resides a 400 cubic inch V8 paired with an automatic transmission.
The floors on this Firebird are shot, but it will come will replacements for the buyer to use. The top gave up the ghost long ago, which likely furthered the deterioration of the interior. The claimed mileage is just shy of 67,000 which could be legit because the car hasn’t seen the road in many moons. Like the seller’s other Firebird, this convertible has no title and will be sold only with a Bill of Sale.
Thanks for not referring to the engine as a 400 “big block” Russ, you’re better than that! :)
Keep up the good work!
SOLD for $6,077.
