440 in a 440! 1967 Dodge Coronet

When Chrysler correctly repositioned its B-body products as mid-size cars in 1965, the Coronet assumed that role at Dodge. And would hold that spot until 1975. The performance version of the Coronet, the R/T, didn’t arrive until 1967 and brought a 440 cubic inch V8 as standard equipment. We don’t know if you could get the 440 in a Coronet without ordering the R/T, but the seller’s ’67 has one, conveniently in the 440 model, though there’s no direct correlation. This sleeper has 200 miles on the drivetrain and looks ready to fool a few folks at traffic stops. Located in Louisville, Kentucky, this beefy Mopar is available here on eBay for $32,500 (buy it now, no auction). As for tips, “Curvette” strikes again!

The R/T aside, the Coronet was a family car, and the 440 edition, which comprised 60% of sales in 1967, was akin to the Malibu in the Chevy Chevelle pecking order. Most of them were likely produced with a 318 V8, which could include the seller’s car. No VIN is provided to determine what motor went in this Dodge from the factory. Whether or not the 440 is numbers-matching, period-correct, or something else, it’s not stock, and the seller lists all the extra goodies that were recently built in.

At 119,000 miles, the body, paint, and interior all look good enough to have had makeovers, but the seller’s not telling. The transmission has been rebuilt, and the Limited Slip Differential will help prevent you from squealing the rear tires (that takes all the fun out of it!). The wheels and tires are new with “poverty” hub caps, and the bumpers have been rechromed after nearly 60 years. The grill is out being redone and, if it’s not back in the car when it sells, the owner will ship it to the buyer at no extra cost. If you’re seeking a modest-looking Mopar, how about this Coronet 440?

Oh WOW sweet Mopar!!! Power brakes, steering and kick a** 440 now it a 452 big block Mopar. I going to guess the horsepower after reading what was done. A HP 440 puts out 375 from Chrysler. Now I am guessing 450 to 500 hp with 3.91 posi and those tires. Man that’s going to smoke them for blocks!!! 😂😂 Another Mopar i would love to own. The only thing i would add… AC !!! You need it up here in New York if you want to drive in the summer. That is a very fair price for this sleeper! Good luck to the next owner!! 🇺🇸🐻
