57k Mile Survivor? 1965 Cadillac Fleetwood

Something consistently surprising to me is how many decades-old automobiles in stunning condition have no story to go with them, with zero explanation provided of why they remain in such strong shape.  This 1965 Cadillac Fleetwood here on Facebook Marketplace is one such example.  Not only is it exceptionally well-preserved, but it could even be a survivor.  It’s in New Haven, Missouri, and while the asking price of $23,000 isn’t exactly small change, it might be worth more than most if it checks out in person as well as the photos suggest.  Excellent vintage luxury find, Zappenduster, and thanks for taking the time to send us the tip here!

While it would be great to have more specific details, the seller does offer some general information about this Cadillac, stating that it is very clean, well preserved, and shows very well.  The pictures seem to back up these claims, and I don’t see any corrosion, dents, or missing parts anywhere on the exterior.  The close-up shot of the left fender shows something unusual on the chrome trim, but I believe that is just a reflection of leaves on the ground.  It’s also not noted whether the paint is original, but it could be if this one has spent most of its life in a garage, and white is generally a forgiving color even when exposed to the elements.

The seller lists the mileage at 57,608, and if the interior is original, it’s easy to believe that number could be accurate.  The odometer’s number has increased by 5 miles since the ad was written, but it’s good to know this Cadillac is still a capable driver.  While most vehicles feature plenty of standard equipment these days, the driver’s armrest here is chock-full of luxurious accessories, many of which weren’t automatically included on most automobiles in the mid-sixties.  Just about every component we can see inside also appears to still be in fine shape, including the headliner.

This one’s equipped with a 429 V8, the only engine available here in 1965, and the owner reports that it’s strong and responsive.  It’s also great to see the A/C equipment is still intact in the bay, as that’s often a good sign that things under the hood haven’t been tampered with extensively.  The power steering is described as effortless, and the brakes are said to be safe, so this 1965 Cadillac Fleetwood may be ready for the next owner to just get behind the wheel and enjoy.  Any thoughts to share here?  Is the $23k asking price in the ballpark?
