Most of the Mopar muscle cars we have featured lately have been rust buckets, so it was refreshing to find this apparently rust-free Charger. The seller mentions that they have owned 20 Chargers over the years and this is the best one they have found. It’s located in Sandy, Utah and is listed here on eBay. There isn’t a reserve, but the auction ends later today!
Any cars that have lived near the Great Salt Lake make me nervous. I’m not sure if it’s the salt in the air or the salt on the roads, but many of the cars I’ve seen from the area have been rotted out. The license plates on this one are from Montana and the floors do look solid so maybe there’s some hope for this one.
The original build sheet is with the car and is a nice thing to have. You can verify all the options and make sure you get everything right during the restoration. It would have been nice if the seller would have decoded it and included all that info for us. Perhaps someone here could zoom in do the job for us?
We aren’t even 100% sure what engine is in this thing and honestly, that’s one of the most important parts of a muscle car. The listing mentions a 383 big block, but it also says it has six cylinders. To make matters worse, there aren’t even any photo of the engine bay. This is a good example of how to not sell a car. Surprisingly the auction is still bid up to $20k with 33 bidders!
The body has a few dings and it’s probably going to need a lot of work, but this is a much better place to start than most Charger projects we have stumbled upon lately. I’m hopeful that the paint is good enough that you could just go through the mechanicals and throw a new interior in it. A quick call to the seller could probably clear up many of our questions and a ratty black Charger would be very cool to have. Oh, and what’s that back there?

Man, what a shameless tease. Put a cover on the orange one! The engine code on the broadcast sheet looks like an H, which is the 383, I believe.

A build sheet,matching numbers and all the other “catch word” clichés are absofrigginlutely useless on a low spec car.Even a 383 column shift with a concours restoration is not as nice ,nor near as valuable, as a nice mild restomod.440 ,console or better still 4 or 5 speed would be the ticket-make mine black on red please,regardless of what the original colors were.
