This beautiful 1965 Ford F100 was purchased new and owned by the original owner for nearly 50 years! The truck has been repainted with lots of little refurbishing projects done over the years. The current seller has had it since 2016 and is letting it go to its next home. You can find it here on eBay with a current bid of $6,400. The truck has Canadian plates and one part of the ad says it is located in Toronto, another section says it is across the border in Lewiston, New York. Either way, this truck looks like a really fun driver and with a little work, could be a show-winner. Let’s check out more and thanks to Grant V. and Ben F. for the tip on this blue beauty.
The interior looks great and matches the clean look of the exterior. The gauges look great. Behind the seat, the gas tank looks amazing. The metal dash and even the glove box are immaculate. There have been several new parts installed to refurbish the interior including the following: glove box liner, seat belts, seat upholstery, rubber flooring, steering wheel, sun visors, ignition and door locks, headliner, and interior door handles.
Here you can see the bed was repainted along with the rest of the truck. There is a carpet liner installed along with a Tonneau cover, which is a nice touch. You can see some minor dents toward the front of the bed, but overall, it looks good.
The only thing that really lets down this truck is the engine compartment. The straight-six measures 240 cubic inches and connects to a three-on-the-tree transmission. The truck has 115K miles and has had a little mechanical work done including having the carb rebuilt. There has also been a conversion to electronic ignition, which is a nice feature. With all the new parts on the interior and a re-paint, it seems like not much attention has been paid up front. That’s okay though, it will give the new owner something to do if they choose to. Even a “rattle can restoration” would freshen it up. What do you think?
The Caribbean Blue and Wimbledon White is a great combination. There have been a few things done to the exterior over the years and it really doesn’t need anything else. The wheel and tire package won’t be to some people’s liking, but that’s an easy fix. Even nice chrome hubcaps would help. How about you? Is there anything you would do to this truck if it was yours?
What a nice F100. A basic truck which has survived all these decades. Any old six cylinder three speed truck is fine with me. A rattle can underhood restoration is also fine with me; after all, the truck is probably not going to be making an appearance at Pebble Beach. I’d hunt down some original hub caps and be glad to take it to the local cruise-in.
Thanks Montana.
I rarely say this, but I doubt this truck has 115K. Anything over 100 grand on these was unusual, they just weren’t driven like today, and they certainly wouldn’t be worth restoring. What amazes me, is someone in 1965, walked into a Ford dealer, wanted a pickup with absolutely no options( that trim was added later) and you could do that. Someone restored a clean original truck, including a new speedo 15,000 miles ago. Very nice truck.
Howard, I have one that has the 292 v-8 that had 285,000 miles before it was overhauled and it never smoked or use oil. It started looseing power. I put a new gear and timing chain and gear on it-THEN HAD TO OVERHAUL IT. It took slack in the motor and sounded like every rod in it pounded. Then I overhauled it. Easy on gas too. I,m the third owner and it was given to me. Its made me a living.
Seller mentions a rear bumper engraved with the original dealers name,Iv’e seen just a few of those around here,a cool item for sure. A lot of money spent on this restoration, looks good.
Mentions it, but no photos of it. From the tailgate shot, looks like it might just be a huge welded mass of angle iron.
Photos are in the flickr link… check it out
240, 300, can’t go wrong with the six. They are bulletproof, and known to go for 300k miles. Timing gears instead of timing chain.
Prerunner it :)
Defently crome hubcaps
I’m not a Ford guy, but I would drive the heck out of this. Great color combo, and love the look of it!
Man, I love the basic goodness of this series Ford trucks. Love it enough to have bought a nice die-cast model of it. That truck, along with about 40 others, seem to have disappeared during a move in 2005. I had an open trailer with numerous boxes, multi-tarped etc. to protect from the snowstorm during transport. No clue whether the box (and only that box) flew out, but I haven’t seen it since. If anyone found a large box of models in central Minnesota, hit me up. :(
One of the best trucks ever made….
Nice tight little truck.
Needs a V8
What gauges?
the 240/ 300 ci 6s were bullet proof , my dad used them in vans in his business and always put over 200k on them
I took our families ’65 F100 in the mid ’70’s after it had it had been used and abused and brought it back. The carb was just sitting on the intake of the 240 ci and rocking around and still ran! It had been overheated many times and when I took the engine down, all the pistons were cracked and I drove it home! Rebuilt the engine, added ac and stereo radio, new seat, paint and body work inside and out. Three on the tree and I loved that old truck. It was a workhorse. That is when a truck was a truck.
My 66 F100 has 46k on it. Has a 300ci
Automatic…love showing it and driving it.
Working on brake convertion right now..a must!
I just saw this in January Hemmings for $17000 “firm”.
This is worth 10K, will need brakes all the way around. The interior work is done, that was $1,500. A good half ton truck
