Cadillac introduced the Coupe de Ville in 1950. From then until 2005 it would be a regular staple of the brand’s portfolio. When multiple doors were needed, buyers would opt for the Sedan de Ville. This 1991 Coupe de Ville is from the car’s sixth generation and looks in amazing condition for a car with nearly 100,000 miles on the odometer. From a dealer’s showroom in Milaca, Minnesota, this Caddy is available here on Barn Finds Classifieds for $9,500.
Though the De Ville marque would last a few years longer, the Coupe de Ville was discontinued after 1993. That was because demand for full-size luxury coupes had been declining year after year. A little more than 10,000 of them were built in 1991 and – as you would expect – these cars were optioned to the hilt and a Coupe de Ville cost $30,200 when new. That equals to about $63,000 in today’s dollars.
The seller’s automobile looks practically new for being 31 years old. It was a one-owner car since before the turn of the century. It still wears its original black paint and matching vinyl top and interior. The car is powered by Cadillac’s then-new 4.9-liter V8 engine that produced 200 hp. Anti-lock brakes were now standard where they had been optional before. Offered in great running condition, the de Ville sits on a dealer’s floor and the price has been lowered by $1,000 when posted to Barn Finds.
These Caddies weren’t as large as some of their predecessors, having been downsized in 1977. But with front-wheel-drive and better execution of cabin layout, the cars offered more than adequate space for five people and their possessions. There is no mention if the auto needs any attention, so it looks like it could be a lot of car for the money. Hagerty estimates one of these cars in excellent condition to be worth about 40% more than the ask for this one.
Believe it or not, these cars ran good, handled good, and performed ok, however it is not what us old school guys considered a Cadillac by any means, just a Buick park Ave Ultra with a Cadillac name on it
I had one. The climate control was always hot to the touch as if were going to catch on fire. Weird. The struts were blown. Nice looking nice ride but GM at a bad time.
Is it parked in the living room ? That floor looks nicer than the floors in our house.
Getting so used to seeing 4-door cars that when I look at this 2-door it seems like it’s a custom job.
We owned a 1986 Sedan de Ville which we eventually traded in for a 1987 BMW 320i. Big mistake!
Sure better than the total junk 4.1 liter boat anchor of 81 to 85. About the worst engine GM idiots ever designed. These cars run good and far better than the total before them.
Got the same thing, but white and I love this old caddy, it’s just right, not to big, not to small. Loves the open road, eats up the miles. Best 800 dollars ever spent on a used car.
I had a thing for these Coupe De Villes (had 4 of them even the twin of this car). That 4.9 was no slouch. I said I didn’t want another one but I would not kick this out of my driveway.
Had a 91 Sedan Deville with this same motor when I was in high school.
Had more issues with it than anything I have owned, but would not mind getting another one if I found one cheap enough
