California Rust-Free 1975 Chevrolet K5 Blazer 4×4

This may be one of my top-ten favorite photos for a vehicle listing here on Barn Finds, it’s got it all: good exposure, a great subject, and an interesting setting. The setting screams Iowa farm at sunrise, a very nice touch. And the 1975 Chevrolet K5 Blazer appears to be a gem, just as nice as the photo is. The seller also goes to the trouble of removing the top for photos and showing the top in place, very well done!

Speaking of the removable top, 1975 was reportedly the last year for a removable top on the second-generation K5 Blazer, which was made for model years 1973 through 1991, roughly spanning between the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. The K5 Blazer was reportedly used in the military beginning in 1976 and some were painted tan if used in desert regions. Back to this California/Iowa Blazer.

Here’s a photo showing the full top in place. The seller says this is a rust-free California Blazer and they disclose that it has been repainted at some point. They rate the paint a 9 out of 10 and it sure looks great in that orange (Grecian Bronze) and white paint scheme. I don’t see many flaws in this vehicle inside or out, and the seller has included underside photos for a peek under this solid 4×4.

The interior also looks great, but the seller mentions a crack or two in the dash, most likely from the hot California sun. Also, the factory air-conditioning isn’t currently blowing cold air. Otherwise, it looks good and with some detailing, it would look really nice. The back seat appears to be in perfect condition, and yes, those are ashtrays in the armrests.  Or they were, they appear to be missing.

The engine is Chevrolet’s 350-cu.in. OHV V8, with 160 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. It moves out through a three-speed Hydra-Matic transmission and transfer case to all four wheels when needed. The seller says it starts on the first crank, runs nice and smooth, and the transmission works as it should. They have it listed here on eBay in Ankeny, Iowa, there is no reserve, and the current bid price is $18,700. Any thoughts on this good-looking Blazer?

Sharp! No AC belt for some reason, but again, Sharp!

I believe that this is not a 75 more like a 74. The 75 top was from the door to the back and the 74 the whole top could be removed.
Unless in the state it was different. I owned a 75 only the back could be removed.

Nice K5 but I still can’t figure out why people don’t clean the engine compartment before taking pictures.

I bought my first K5 Blazer (new) in 1976, and have owned several since including my ’75 for the last 20 years.
The Blazer here looks nice at first glance but needs a lot to be at it’s best.
It is missing a number of Cheyenne package items like the center console, simulated wood on gauge cluster, cargo area carpet, cargo area side panels, wheel opening mouldings, and tailgate brushed aluminum trim panel. The spare tire and mount are missing. The grill should have a “350” emblem. There is an aftermarket stereo (not sure if dash is modified), and holes cut in doors for speakers. Aftermarket chrome trimmed transfer case boot. Cheapo aftermarket air cleaner, and non-functional AC (will likely need at least a compressor and drier). The aftermarket dual exhaust is missing the tail pipes that should exit beyond the rear fenders (won’t pass safety in most jurisdictions). The top is missing the sliding windows listed in option sticker in glovebox.
This Blazer has potential, but only if bought at the right price.

great model/yr. (Like the 1st gen better, but its fine).
I love a pic 3/4 rear, from 10, 12 ft above. The carpet looks like an airport runway, so big (esp compaired to my 1st gen bronk).
This one’s almost as good as the ’77 hiboy on todays page (my #1, or of the ’70 bronk, my current ride for 42 yrs).
Anything missing can B added later ( my base model is now upto top of line).

I really hope the buyer doesn’t look at the bad sides and concentrates on the ups , cause $27 k is a lot of dough for a putty machine …
