The black paint, ten-hole alloy wheels, and rear window louvers give this GT a familiar Fox-body look. Inside, the gray-and-charcoal Recaro sport seats with red piping add a distinctly 1980s touch. The seller says the car retains its factory-original paint, has been garage-kept, and has never been wrecked. With so many Fox-body Mustangs modified over the years, those details make this one worth a closer look.
Under the hood is the 5.0-liter High Output V8, rated at 210 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque for 1985. Ford made worthwhile changes that year, including a revised camshaft and roller valve lifters, which helped boost output over the previous model year. The four-barrel carburetor gives this GT a more old-school feel than the fuel-injected Mustangs that followed. This was the final year for the carbureted 5.0 in the Mustang GT before fuel injection arrived for 1986. The seller also reports that the transmission shifts tightly and the clutch engages smoothly.
I can relate to the appeal of a low-mileage Mustang. I bought my 1991 GT convertible from a retired couple in 2023, when it had just 14,000 miles. It’s up to about 16,500 now, and I still send the former owners pictures when it wins awards at local shows. Cars like these are worth preserving, especially when they’ve made it this far without losing the character that made them special in the first place.

Conrad, these dual snorkel 85’s move out nice and sound great. Caught a ride in a coworkers back in 90′ just like this one but white paint, was very impressed. This example looks fantastic bigtime. Even has the covers for the fog lites. Ford used them on the Lincoln LSC too.

Conrado, I’d keep this “Stang just as it is, but I hope you wouldn’t mind if I racked up a ton of miles on it. The 5.0 Fox-body cars are too much fun to keep in a collection.
This was before Ford got jiggy with the body add-ons for the GT package, and is quite attractive because of that. I gravitated to the LX in later years.
Oh, I’d make one change: I have heard that those fog light covers are Unobtanium these days. I’d pop ’em of and rig some other kind of protection for the lamps.

Priced for perfection. It’s nice, but not $29,950. The description is not what you’d expect from a long term owner, it’s not in the first person, which might just be the way they write, but might not. Proof needs to be provided to verify the mileage, which is the justification for the price. Good luck to the next owner, a black car without AC will be rough in Florida. This would be a good car if priced in the low to mid teens.

Not a Ford guy here but people I know are and said that the fog lamp covers go for a lot of money if you can find them. I also have a air cleaner lid similar to this from I think from 1984 from a co worker that gave it to me back in the early 1990’s from his Mustang. This one is clean and not modified NICE.
I bought this exact model in 1988 for $9200.00 used with 47k miles. It was a fun car to drive. The T5 trany sucks a little, and I had 273 gears. I would put 411 gears if I had it again. My buddy had 355 in his and he blew my doors off the line. When I got the jump he kept up but couldn’t pass.

Nice car. However, I do prefer my 91 GT, all original with the 5.0 and 5 speed, with factory sun roof…She does scoot down the road, and a blast to drive!
Nice looking GT. My buddy bought the exact same thing off the showroom floor back in the day. With the 5 speed an awesome car. I’d love to get my hands on this one but the ask is a bit rich. 30k? Mid to high teens maybe.
A very nice GT, pretty much a base car. does not mention the option 3.08 rear gears. most likely has the 2.73 gear set. The 3.08 woke up the car. I had both gears sets in the two 85’s I had. The ideal gear set was actually the 3.27’s. the auto gear cars had the 3.27’s. Really hard to find a stock unmolested GT of that vintage. I had a similar 85 with blue paint with 28K miles pwr windows and sunroof and still had the original set of gatorbacks. I sold it for $14K to an enthusiast. So with inflation and low miles this is within range. Certainly a mid $20K car.
