Though it was the top trim level offered by Dodge upon introduction, the Royal seems to sometimes be overlooked or forgotten by many Mopar fans, and there could be a couple of reasons for that. Production was relatively short, lasting from 1954 through 1959, plus the late fifties were a long time ago, so perhaps some enthusiasts just aren’t familiar with the model. The base Royal was also almost immediately knocked down to an intermediate beginning in 1955, where it remained for the rest of the run, but was still above the Coronet. Offered here on Facebook Marketplace in Stone Creek, Ohio, is a pair of 1955 Dodge Royal sedans, one base and the other more upscale, with the asking price of $2,400 including both cars. Ted, thanks a lot for your thoughtful tip here!

The stronger of the two cars here is the blue one, which is said to be a Custom Royal, a new-for-1955 model that was still the top-trimmed Dodge in the brand’s lineup. This one’s also reported to have traveled east from California, with the seller claiming that it remains very solid overall. While the blue car comes with its Super Red Ram Hemi engine, the owner isn’t convinced it’s worth rebuilding, as the bare block appears to have sat out in the weather for an extended period. However, aside from the oil pan, he also believes the motor is complete, so it’s possible that the buyer may feel otherwise.

The other auto is a base Royal, which came from Iowa, and it’s described as having serious rust issues. The seller thinks this one would be best used as a parts car, but also floats the idea of turning it into a Rat Rod. Although it’s not a Hemi, the rusty Royal still has the engine under the hood, which is intact and appears complete. However, there’s no word on whether or not it will still turn. While it might not be financially feasible to invest much to get this one operational, there may be some items here that can be used on the blue Custom Royal.

Although $2,400 doesn’t seem like an unreasonable cash price to pay for both, the owner also sounds very open to trades and mentions several items he’d consider. Some of these include a 20-foot vehicle trailer, a Kubota-brand tractor, or perhaps a decent camper. He also invites those interested in these cars to inform him of what else you might have, so it may not be difficult for you all to work out a suitable swap. Any thoughts to share on this pair of 1955 Dodge Royal sedans, individually or collectively?

Two tones are my fave. Rust and paint.
lot for 2 cars that don’t run. full resto not economically viable. limited market buyers for these cars
Agree…..although I’ve owned these – I still sent a factory PW/PS and rear trunk A/C to our salvage yard….just keeping the trunk A/C (smaler than the big cars) and the P/W motors. Just tooo many of these around for the love.
Although there are good parts – I’d say have deep pockets or look on Ebay for the parts you need. Shipping not included………
NOT a bad deal.. The blue one looks restorable, especially with a parts car next to it.. It looks like all the trim pieces and glass are there. A lot will depend on the buyers abilities. Some MOPAR collector will probably jump on this deal.

My Grandma always said that if you can’t say something nice then don’t say anything at all. So here goes. I’ve seen rustier cars.
The chrome looks amazingly good, considering the condition of the rest of the cars.
the chrome looks good cause its STAINLESS
You’ve got to love that big, beautiful, chromed die-casting that separates the two-tone colors on the hood!
I regret parting out a 56 Royal Lancer with trunk mount A/C that was rust free and in far better condition than these. These were pretty well made cars and it’s no surprise that so many have survived.
