If you’ve been looking for an affordable convertible and like the styling of the fourth-generation Chevrolet Corvette, this 1991 model seems reasonably priced at $5,250. Keep in mind this one’s not quite perfect, and the future owner will have to decide whether or not they want to invest in a few cosmetic improvements to take the outside appearance up a notch or two. However, the Chevy’s current presentation may be deemed acceptable if it’s just a fun driver you’re after. This 1991 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is in Costa Mesa, California, and can be spotted here on eBay.
White is typically a forgiving color, and the seller rates the paint quality as about seven on a ten scale. A couple of specific body areas mentioned that need attention are the front and rear bumpers, which are both stated as having a few big scrapes. While there are some blemishes visible in these areas, they don’t seem all that bad in my opinion, and hopefully, not all that difficult to repair. There are also some imperfections on the driver’s side rocker, but again, nothing that looks like a huge deal to fix. Some corrosion has formed around the wheel edges and the original canvas top will eventually need replacing, but overall I’m just not finding this one unpleasing on the outside.
Mechanically, the seller says the engine runs strong and the automatic transmission goes through the gears properly, but the title lists the ‘Vette’s mileage as TMU (True Mileage Unknown). The odometer has a current reading of 27,576, but a look back through the Experian Auto Check Report shows 32,144 miles from the second owner in 1998. However, after another 6 years passed, the mileage is back to 18,421, and it seems to consistently climb from there to about where it is now. The ticker could have easily rolled over during those six years, but I thought the ’91 Corvette had a 6-digit odometer, so maybe one of our readers can confirm or deny this. There’s also the possibility one entry error was made back in the late nineties, and this one really is a low-mileage example. In any event, the report states that the odometer checks out.
The red interior components stick out like sore thumbs against the black, but it’s an attention-getting combo and everything inside seems in acceptable condition for a driver. The radio isn’t cranking out any tunes, but the power windows, door locks, and mirrors all function as they should. This one also seems solid on the bottom, judging from the one photo provided. For just over five grand, this 1991 Corvette Convertible seems like some affordable fun in the sun, and it might be worth pursuing if you’re in the market for a C4 droptop.
