Cheap Fun! Lifted 1999 Chevy Corvette

If you’ve never seen the 1999 remake of the movie The Thomas Crown Affair, Pierce Brosnan’s character drives a vintage Shelby Mustang with large off-road tires, a roll bar, and driving lights. A modified car built like that is great for bombing down a gravel road or through acres of grassy fields. Well, if you can’t afford a Shelby, perhaps this 1999 Corvette will do. It can be found here on Facebook Marketplace with an asking price of $8,500. Located in Fithian, Illinois, this car looks like a ton of fun. Check it out and thanks to Rocco B. for the tip on this speedy off-roader.

There’s no information in the ad regarding any engine upgrades, but you can see the 5.7 has an aftermarket air intake. It is backed by a 6-speed transmission. Base C5 Corvettes in 1999 were rated at 345 horsepower and 350 lb./ft. of torque.

The odometer shows 154,000 miles, but the interior is still in decent condition. If this was my car, I might think about installing a custom roll cage like the Thomas Crown car, but that depends on how hard the car will be driven.

The seller says the lift is four inches and the tires are 33″ Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Overall, this looks like a lot of fun for less than five figures. What do you think?

I just saw the video on these. (He has done a couple). Really interesting until he ran them through a stream. Those Vettes have enough electrical gremlins on the das without giving them a bath. Looks like a blast until the dummy lights look like a Christmas tree…

I dont oppose, hate or really like this. Like the Stanmobile featured earlier on Barnfinds, it’s about a unique vision and innovation. No matter if I like it. I read some of those comments, and America is all about innovation – *your* innovation., not mine.
So many Corvettes are owned by an older generation and are rarely driven. This is an odd alternative, indeed. Now, the big question….would you valet park?

“So many Corvettes are owned by an older generation and are rarely driven.” You must live in a retirement State.

Probably easier to get into and the Z71 off road decal is a nice touch!

Hey Dennis, you could have bought this instead of your new Bronco! Get your new plate yet?

I just put the plates on today – LOL! Since it came from out of state, it didn’t have a front plate bracket, which was a good thig because they didn’t drill into the front bumper.
I found a very well made custom bracket that bolts right on with no drilling. Looks sharp too. I’ll have to post a photo of it.

And, I think I like my Corvettes without 4WD, but that would be killing 2 birds with 1 stone – LOL.

Nope, you just don’t do this to a Corvette.

As a Vette guy, I like it! I don’t know why, but it appeals to me. Wished I lived closer.
