While I realize the Ford Bronco is a real-deal collector’s item at the moment, even I’m a little shocked at the price tag this final-year Eddie Bauer model is going for. The current bid is $28,000 with four days left, and it certainly seems like the Bronco won’t run out of gas any time soon. This is also an Eddie Bauer edition with under 90,000 original miles, so it does have a lot going for it. It comes with the desirable 5.8L V8 engine, and the cosmetics appear to be in excellent shape. The seller reports that the cosmetics are just as sound inside the Bronco, and that it remains 100 percent stock. Find it here on eBay and located in Bargersville, Indiana.
The Bronco sports new tires, which the seller notes are new BF Goodrich All-Terrain K02s with less than 10 miles on them. The seller has restrained from putting a larger set of wheels and tires on the Bronco, and although I think these trucks look good with some lower offset wheels, simply going for a meatier treat gives the Bronco more presence without altering its stock appearance. The wheels look quite sharp with excellent chrome, and the same goes for the front and rear bumpers. The two-tone paint job was a stable of the Eddie Bauer editions, and the finish appears to be in excellent condition.
The other bonus to the Eddie Bauers was that they were luxurious inside, with leather seating surfaces, woodgrain trim, and unique badges throughout. The Bronco’s interior is in excellent shape, surprisingly nice for a truck with average miles on the clock. The interior sports bucket seats with a generous center console, and the backseat looks like it was never used. The seat folds flat into the rear storage area floor, which appears to have never carried a bag of mulch. Tan isn’t very forgiving when it comes to hiding flaws, so the fact that the Bronco still looks so clean inside is a testament to the previous owners that have looked after it.
The frame also reveals just how minty this Bronco is from top to bottom, with no surface rust in sight and certainly no corrosion of any significance at all. The Bronco is often used in greuling conditions, with many of them put into service as plow trucks. Obviously, Bronco owners also have a history of treating their trucks like collector’s items from Day 1, but it’s not guaranteed. This Eddic Bauer edition Bronco is a cream puff, even with almost 90,000 miles on the clock. All told, I suppose the bidding shouldn’t surprise me given how hot the market has been for clean, stock Broncos for some time. Where do you think this one will end up price-wise?
The Eddie Bauer Broncos were nicely finished, attractively trimmed without looking gaudy or overdone. This one obviously has had excellent care. I don’t have a projection of where the bidding will end, but it is obviously strong. And like Jeff concludes, given the market for these, it’s not that surprising.
HEAVY coating of mystery goop on that undercarriage.
A high quality spare tire cover would be a great addition.
agreed…. the factory EB tire cover is noticeably missing. Why, on such a well preserved, low mile 96 EB?
‘staple’ of the Eddie Bauer editions…not ‘stable’.
Love the colors, love the wheels.
That sure looks like corrosion on the frame, covered up with flat black. Looks pretty horrible to me, as I also have a 96 EB Bronco, with almost 300K on it, and the bottom of mine still looks like ‘factory’, exceptionally clean, with NO corrosion, and all factory finish looking good. This may be a good, low-mile, 96 Bronco, but I would stand the underside of mine against this one, anytime.
This one’s a real beauty with what are really low miles for this generation. A lot of life left in it and the interior was beautifully maintained. The aluminum wheels on this rig are forged Alcoa pieces – some of the strongest and prettiest OEM wheels ever, in my opinion. I ran them for years on my early Bronco.
