EXCLUSIVE: 1955 Chevrolet Stepside

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

David L really didn’t give us much in the way of info on his Chevrolet 3100 truck, but he just needs it gone. It looks like it needs a fair amount of work, but could be a good starting point. It’s missing its window glass and hasn’t run in a long time. If you have been on the hunt for a cheap Task Force series of Chevy truck to build into a rat or hot rod, it would be worth making David an offer. It’s located in Oakley, California with black plates still on it. So be sure to take a closer look at it and send David your offer via the form below.

What Makes It Special? This truck would make for a great hot rod project. It’s a California black plate truck. It needs glass and lots of other work, but is a great place to start.

Body Condition: The body is fairly straight. There’s some rust in the usual places.

Mechanical Condition: The engine does not run.

As I already stated, David didn’t give us much info. We don’t typically run Exclusives without more information and photos than this, but it looks like it would be worth taking a closer look. For the right price, it would be worth buying to restore, customize or part out, so be sure to send him a message and set up a time to inspect it.

Well, it is a great starting point, however, history has shown, California “cheap” differs greatly from Medford, Wisconsin “cheap”. I had a ’55 like this, only a half baked gasser type, 327, car 4 speed, fender well exit headers, it really was a miserable rendition, and would much have preferred a stock truck restored. I hope this doesn’t turn into another resto-mod, there are so many already. Looks like a pretty basic pickup, so probably a 6. Properly geared, this would have no problem on the highway,,within reason, of course. Lots of aftermarket parts for these, so it could easily be done up original. These seem to be popping up a lot lately, considering the craziness today, I have no idea what it should go for.

Great truck!! I would clear coat it to protect the rust from getting worse!!! Then I’d drive the tires off it!! Ok call it patina!!! If it’s a duck it’s a duck!!!
