Selling off a family’s collection has to be both rewarding and slightly deflating, seeing cars go away that you’ll likely never be able to buy again. But if your dad or grandparents managed to put away a variety of vehicles that will put over $100,000 in your bank account, well – that could help ease the anguish of seeing a stunner like this real-deal 1967 Ford Mustang GT convertible with a 289 go home to a new caretaker. The seller has listed this Mustang for $26,900 along with a variety of other classics here on craigslist
A goal of mine for any assortment of vehicles I hold onto will be to have something for everyone. If I mentally “assign” a vehicle to each child, ,what would they want to own themselves? I realize by the time I’m in the ground, there may not even be a world for enthusiast vehicles to reside in, at least not without some inconvenience, but one can hope these cars will still be appreciated. The collection shown here has some nice variety, ranging from classic (and valuable) muscle cars to fun replicas like this one, which is labeled as simply a “wide body Speedster” but obviously there’s a manufacturer’s name stamped somewhere on the body. The seller is asking $26,900 for this car as well.
This is likely to be one of the more sought-after vehicles in the collection: a 1972 “Heavy Chevy” Chevelle. The Heavy Chevy line was reflective of a general trend to offer performance cars with a budget price, limited options, and some clever marketing to make them appeal to young people who needed to save a few bucks. Today, these special editions (while being purely cosmetic in terms of features) are hard to come by, and may even be downright impossible to track down owing to the original graphics being lost due to paint jobs and replacement body panels. The seller is asking $32,900 for this Chevelle.
In keeping with the deceased owner clearly appreciating all sorts of classic vehicles, there’s also this very pretty Triumph TR3. The hardtop is particularly unusual and I can’t recall the last time I saw one of these sporting British roadsters with one: I’m sure this is a somewhat modern accessory, and whether it was made in-period or has been added in the last few years, it changes the personality of the Triumph dramatically. The seller is looking for a reasonable $17,900 for this car, and other notable offerings include a Sunbeam Rapier and a custom Datsun 240Z convertible. Which car would you be making an offer on?
This looks like a great collection of cars. Its very sad that this was the owners pride and joy, they all appear to be well taken care of, but sadly has passed away. This was a great write up Jeff. And hopefully they all can go to a good new home with a new caretaker.
Another sharp Rapier! 2 in a short time after not seeing any for awhile.
A nice collection and what appears to be excellent prices. Other than some factory history on the good-looking Detroit Iron there’s no real detail about the rest-a little odd, don’t you think?
Personally though I’d take any one of these home in a heartbeat.
Good find, Jeff.
For being a real estate agent (who should know a thing or two about marketing), one ad for a bunch of cars, and is pretty much just “call me.” It also struck me as odd.
I agree. I personally prefer to have one car listed at a time. However, there is one plus with this one…… At least it doesn’t look like they took a few pictures of the cars inside of a cave like what happens way too often. At least they’re outside. Although, now I’m wondering, Are these current photos? Or older photos the owner took at one time or another before they passed away? Just a thought.
That 70 Cobra in aqua paint wow. Select-Shift autoloader, 3.00 traction-lok. What a sweet highway flyer.
Nice collection 👌
The Torino definitely. I find it odd the seller includes their real estate license. I mean who cares? I’m here for the cars.
Perhaps he was trying to express he is not a car dealer. Just a thought.
The TR3 hardtop is a factory piece. It is the best looking of all the hardtops available at the time. I think it is a bit over priced though!
if that is a real heavy chevy it is a shame what happened to it. it will take good money to bring it back to factory. seller should have posted an ad for each car with better pics.
Lots of nice cars in this collection. I like the Sunbeam Rapier. The prices for these seem reasonable. GLWTS.
Lots of nice cars, so why use a Glamor Filter on the photos? Car buyers want to see real, not altered photos! showing the actual paint.
The Chevelle and Torino Cobra have had questionable styling choices made as well as work performed. Same goes with several of the other cars with flares and paint colors. I’d want to thoroughly inspect any prior to considering an offer. Shiny paint does not make a car a good deal. As someone above pointed out, each one should have its own ad.
