Chevrolet redesigned its cars for a second year in a row in 1959, largely due to competitive pressures. You’ll recall Chrysler launched its “Forward Look” automobiles in 1957, which redefined what cars would look like going forward. The new Chevies had “batwings” instead of tailfins, a style that was carried over into 1960. The seller has a ’60 Impala Sport Sedan, which is a 4-door hardtop with lots of glass and a nearly flat roof. Located in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, this former barn find is available here on eBay, where the current bid is $2,025, the reserve is unmet, and the Buy It Now price is $14,500. An attaboy goes to Mitchell G. for the tip.

The Sport Sedan body style first arrived at Chevrolet in 1956 on the then top series Bel Air. It carried over to the Impala when it became a full series in 1959. It was popular as a family car, with 1960 sales of 169,000 units, with the principal styling change being the return of triple round taillights. The seller’s Chevy has a 283 cubic inch V8 with an automatic transmission (2-speed Powerglide), but there is no mention as to when this Impala last ran.

The seller has a full-service restoration shop, so the first paragraph of the pitch is largely marketing speak. It tells us the seller has owned the car for about a year, and it has 54,000 miles to its credit. As the story goes, they found the car in Texas (inside a barn?), and it was packed up and sent off to Mass in an enclosed trailer. The limited number of photos only show the car at the point of purchase and inside that trailer.

The body seems okay, and the white over blue paint isn’t bad and could be original or an older repaint. There are no photos of the interior, so we don’t know if it’s better or worse than the rest of the car. Nor is there any mention of mechanical health, so getting the car to run might be relatively easy or a total pain. If you like “flat top” Chevies, this Impala could be a nice one. But the seller needs to have a bigger story to tell with more pics.

The seller is dreaming. If you want to get paid, put in the work, earn the money by taking good pictures and writing a detailed description. The days of getting this kind of money for project cars without a strong following are rapidly coming to and end.
The other 1960 Chevy the seller has listed, with the same BIN price is even more unrealistic.

There are a couple interior pics, which do not show anything nice, and the seats were redone at some point with nonoriginal material. That is also not an original 1960 283. It’s something newer than 68 or so, at least. $5K would be all the money on this one, IMO.
Bought one of these 20 years ago, all original and only 63 thousand miles on it for 2500 bucks from my old boss. It was white and had been sitting in his shop for a number of years. Put a new battery and some fresh gas in it and it fired right up. One of the best cars I’ve ever had!
It sure looks nice. Being a Texas car and full tinted glass, I wonder if it has/had factory air?
Looks solid but the price is a bit steep. When I was a very little kid, a neighbor, an older fellow, bought a 1960 Impala 4 door hardtop like this in Roman Red. He loved that car and babied the daylights out of it. It was as stunner. This blue Impala reminded me of that car instantly.
