This Sunbeam Tiger was used as a race car from new, according to the seller. Thanks to Barn Finds reader Proston for the submission! While it’s original engine is long gone, it comes with two appropriate Ford small block V8’s and some other coveted performance parts. While I realize many classics are worth more stock, the Tiger folks I’ve met over the years at British car shows are much more tolerant of performance modifications than many other marque enthusiasts. It’s located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada and is for sale here on craigslist, where the seller is asking $20,000. Tigers passed my budget a while back, but that still seems a bit high to me; maybe I’m wrong, though. The Capri wheels don’t do anything for it; I’d love to see a set of LAT wheels or even Panasports if you are going for performance. The owner does include good pictures for a craigslist ad and notes that it’s been stored since 1980 and needs some work underneath at the exhaust cutouts and traction master mounts. Would you try to restore it to stock, or continue the performance theme? And if it has racing history, would that matter to you? Let us know in the comments!

Grrrrr! 1965 Sunbeam Tiger Ex-Race Car
Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.
Nyet! For $20k I’ve seen drivable examples.
Yeah, IDK, isn’t a Tiger without the drivetrain, just an Alpine? I respectfully disagree with Mark, the day of the $20K Tiger is long gone. Hemmings has several, and prices seem to be 45 to 200K, for a nice one, so the return would be there. Lot of work here, but I’m sure people have restored worse.
I’m close if anyone wants feet on the ground.
Demolition derby race, apparently
Lots of red flags here I think….
No documentation
Some frame components said to be “weak”. If the car was used as a road car in Ontario salt that’s to be expected. If it was used as a race car from new with only 3690 miles that’s a problem.
I’m not able to determine whether it’s a real Tiger from the photos, but the seller is no help on that.
Overpriced
G-R-R-R-R-r-r-r-ust?!
I’m the guy who submitted it – keep in mind this is a Canadian ad so in US dollars that is asking about $15k – I think that makes it more interesting for everyone south of the border
Those are MGB wheels I believe
