His & Hers: Pair of 1979 Chevrolet Camaro Z28s

This seller (an online dealer) has a pair of 1979 Chevy Camaro Z28s for sale. If you take the duo, a substantial discount is offered. But the details on each of the autos are minimal, yet there are plenty of pics (repeated and none of the interiors or engine compartments). They hail from College Place, Washington, and are available here on craigslist for $34,995 for one, $24,995 for the other, or $46,995 if you carry both away. A nod goes to “Curvette” for another Chevy tip.

Chevrolet set a sales record with the Camaro in 1979: 282,582 units overall, with 84,877 being the Z28 model. The design was now 10 years old, and an all-new Camaro wouldn’t come along until 1982. Changes in 1979 included a brand-new dashboard (no longer wraparound) and a 3-piece front spoiler for the Z28. The seller indicates one of his ’79 Z28s has T-Tops, while the other is a “regular Z38” coupe. What is a Z38? Was it a real thing or just a typo on the seller’s part? Both Zs have a 350 cubic inch V8, which we assume is an LM1, which was standard in those cars.

The seller provides two links for “more details about this car,” but they go to the same place and add no info or photos that the craigslist doesn’t. They’re both black in color, and one has open-air capabilities, but that’s about it. How many miles? What’s the running condition of the two vehicles? Do the interiors match or contrast with the rest of the cars? Instead, the main effort that’s made is to pitch them as a “His & Hers” concept so you’ll want both.

Sure, you can potentially save nearly $13,000 if you buy the pair. That assumes that you want two 1979 Camaro Z28s. If you don’t, you could end up selling the one that you don’t like and maybe make a profit. That assumes the numbers the seller has published allow enough room for that to take place. The His & Hers pitch probably limits the number of potential buyers rather than increasing the demand.

There was a pair of 78s here in Portage PA, both Z28s a red automatic and a black 4 speed. Really nice survivor cars, never restored. I don’t know about his and hers but the guy had 2 same year Camaros. I always looked at those and just like overnight they disappeared and a really nice 69 Mustang appeared. Cool 😎

The seller has them listed individually on their website with more detailed pictures, which likely won’t help them find a buyer. Each car leaves a lot to be desired. The car with the Weld Draglites has mismatched tires front to rear, duct tape on the seat, bad panel alignment and more. The other at least has the same brand of tires on all 4 corners, but has a set of spray painted Pontiac Rally II’s, bad panel fitment etc. If a potential buyer puts in a bit of effort they can find much better cars for significantly less money.

What dealer can’t spell Camaro correctly? Even spell check can spell it correctly.

Yeah, you can even spot it in that second pic with the misalignment of the cover of the gas cap and the rest of the body work back there,…Musta been rear-ended at one point in its life. And what’s with that crud on the rear wheel arch in the last image: couldn’t the seller spend a few bucks to wash the car before taking pictures or is that badly sanded bondo starting to lift back there?

Well I am disappointed here. Two nice looking Zs and no interior shots or engine compartment shots. Just plenty of outside shots and same pictures…show repeat show repeat.. REALLY!!! I also look at there site. Guess what??? SAME BLOODY PICTURES!!! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ what is the seller afraid of! People who are interested in them must live in the area to go over to see the rest of the cars interior etc… This is lousy way to sell them. I like these Zs since growing up with them as a teenager. I hope this is not a prank deal. Good luck to the next owner. 🇺🇸🐻

Too many mods. I don’t like either of them.

Those cars were cool back in 1979, even with the very popular 1979 Trans Am on every street corner. Not so much today. The seller is a dreamer and I hope they are open to “best offer” offers.

Really expensive rough looking cars. Doing a search in the same area on Craigslist there are much better condition ones for sale for less.

No interior or engine pics and what pics he’s posted are pretty lousy. Asking a champagne price for a couple of beers. He sounds like the Crazy Eddie of used car dealers.
