Impressive 28k-Mile 1985 Ford Mustang GT

Ford manufactured the Foxbody Mustang from 1979 until 1993, and it is arguably one of the most beloved iterations of the automaker’s popular pony car. After the 1986 model year, Ford gave the Mustang a thorough refresh, making this low-mile 1985 Ford Mustang GT that’s available here on eBay a desirable specimen for anyone seeking a pre-facelift Foxbody.

This Mustang is available in Bristol, Pennsylvania with a clean title. The seller took ownership of the vehicle in 1999, and according to the vehicle history report in the listing, they only added a little under 4,000 miles during this interval.

It’s impressive to consider that the Jalapeno red paint on this Mustang is original, but that’s indeed what the advertisement states. Though it uses wheels from a later Mustang Cobra, the seller includes the original wheels with the vehicle’s sale, and it also features period-correct Marchal fog lights with covers.

The interior is in similarly superb condition and it has features such as factory floor mats, power windows, power locks, cruise control, a retractable luggage cover, and a rear defroster. There is also an aftermarket stereo system (though the seller will provide the new owner with the factory unit), and despite recently replacing the heater core, the air conditioning system will need a recharge to operate again.

Under the hood, you’ll find a high output 5.0-liter V8 engine, which pairs to a 5-speed manual transmission to drive the rear wheels. The drivetrain has 28,375 miles on it and features some upgrades, including a catalytic converter delete and a larger 8.8-inch rear end, but the seller still has the original 7.5-inch rear if the next buyer wants it.

The advertisement features a Buy it Now price of $17,000, but the seller is entertaining reasonable offers. Would you add this tastefully modified early Foxbody to your collection?

Nice car. I had an 86 in oxford white equipped just like this. Best car I ever owned.

I wouldn’t call deleting the catalytic convertor an “upgrade”. An upgrade would be a nice free flowing modern catalytic convertor. I bought a ’90 Corvette with exhaust that would literally burn your eyes if you drove behind it as the previous owner failed to tell me he’d deleted the convertor. I installed one, noticed no decline in performance but WOW does it make the car more pleasant.

The Marchal fog lamps are factory…not “period-correct” add-ons.

Are these REALLY worth $17K now, or is this pipe pricing?

Nice, clean originals are yes. He needs to put the original wheels back on, and fix the a/c if you expect 17k.
