If there’s a better color combination for a 1988 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer Edition located in beautiful Albuquerque, New Mexico, than Dark Canyon Red and Light Desert Tan, I can’t think of it. The seller has this gorgeous example posted here on craigslist in The Duke City, and they’re asking $18,500. Here is the original listing, and thanks to T.J. for the tip!

This is a perfect high-desert complementary color combo on what may be the perfect high-desert vehicle, and it’s almost in perfect condition. Just to get the asking price out of the way, as I know a lot of you thought, “What?! I used to be able to buy a Bronco like this for $10,000 all day long!” Here’s the thing: prices have gone up on almost everything, as I’m sure you’ve noticed the last 137 times you were at any store. Hagerty is at $16,800 for a #3 good-condition example and $31,300 for a #2 excellent Bronco.

The fourth-generation Bronco was made from 1986 for the 1987 model year until the end of 1991, and this was it, a two-door body style, at least here in the U.S. and Canada. A while ago, I made my own four-door version and a panel truck version that I thought would have been pretty good sellers, maybe. The four-door one for sure. The pre-Expedition “Centurion Classic” was a four-door “Bronco,” but it was more of an F-350 Crew Cab with the rear roof of the Bronco grafted onto it.

The classic 1980s/’90s velour seats look nice, with a few wrinkles to prove the 123,000 miles on this 4×4. It’s no low-mile truck, so maybe that asking price is a bit on the high side? The back seat looks great as expected, and we don’t get to see the rear cargo area or the underside, unfortunately.

The engine (I believe there is one under those hoses and wires) is Ford’s 302-cu.in. OHV fuel-injected V8 with 185 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. Passed through a new-for-1987-’88 Borg Warner 1345 push-button two-speed transfer case and a four-speed automatic sending power to all four wheels when needed, the seller says it runs and drives like new and is in “showroom” condition, and I think they’re pretty close. The relatively high miles may be the only thing holding this one back from the #2 excellent condition value. What do you think?

Thanks Scotty. These Eddie Bauer-trimmed Broncos were attractive packages, with the red/tan being particularly good-looking. This generation of Broncos were well-done, and their solid pricing shows they have become desired and collectible. This one looks like it has had good care. I like your photoshops.

I agree this is one of the best color combos for thia generation. The Eddie Bauer package is hard to beat. This one has tons of life left!

To the author, I’d go just the opposite. I’d keep the 2 doors and lose the back seat and cap. I’d have a cab roof that looked just like that of an F-150 with a very short bed.

Here’s a four-door version, Terrry, just for something different. I’ve seen a few regular (two-door) Broncos with the rear top removed, and it’s a super cool look.

High mileage ? 123K divided by 37 yrs equals out to a little under 3400 miles a year. Depending on the amount of owners and documentation of services, will determine asking / sale price. I’ve got a 90′ (not my daily driver anymore) equally equipped with 120K on the clock and my documentation of services going back to January 1991. That would be high miles overall but it turns out to be a little over 3300 miles per year. Just my $.02

Guess I’m kinda a jerk because someone who calls a vehicle that has 123,000 miles on it “Like New” has obviously never driven the same vehicle when it was new. 5 digit odometer on this model year yes its clean and likely spent most of its life as a pavement princess but its far from like new. Because it is clean they will likely get the asking price or close to it

This is a nice well kept Bronco priced a lot more reasonable than others I’ve seen lately. I’ve always preferred the Victoria or Deluxe tu-tones over the EB’s.
When buying a new Bronco in 85 I chose a Victoria tu-tone sand/ desert tan in lieu of the new Eddie Bowers red or blue. I traded in an 82 red/ white deluxe tu-tone.
Always loved the bull and brick nosed Fords!

I had an ‘85 Bronco XLT. The Eddie Bauer trim wasn’t available until ‘86. I have to say that my Bronco was one of the best I ever had. It had (1) breakdown in 200K miles and that was when my 2nd boy was driving it and one of the block heaters popped out. The brain dead twerp tried to drive it home (10 miles) and locked it up.

Just the same I fixed it and kept driving it for another 100K miles before I turned it over to the oldest boy who drove it until he needed money to pay a lawyer.

    Good things never last…
