Beginning in 1962, Chrysler offered two versions of the 300. One was the Letter Series, the other the Sports Series, which differed largely by what lay under the hood. After the Letter Series was retired in 1965, there was no longer a reason to differentiate, at least for the rest of the decade. This 1969 edition in convertible trim has largely been rebuilt or upgraded mechanically, so it runs and looks great. Chrysler treated all its full-size cars to a restyle in 1969, sporting a “fuselage” look compared to the rectangular appearance of the year before. Out of more than 260,000 full-size Chryslers built in 1969, only 32,000 or so carried 300 badging. And of those, less than 2,000 (1,933 to be precise) could flip their lids, aka were convertibles. The 300 came with a 383 cubic inch V8 as standard and this example has the optional 440, which is original to the auto but sports lots of new parts.
We’re told the big-block engine has new valves, seats, springs, and seals. That suggests the car sat unattended for some time to have just 42,500 miles while needing this work. The TorqueFlite automatic is also original but was rebuilt three years ago. The list of new parts goes on and on, including the gas tank, carburetor, exhaust, distributor and ignition, oil and fuel pumps, and newer tires.
But efforts on the Chrysler’s behalf did not stop there. The interior has been redone with factory-correct materials. The top needs replacing, but the seller has a new one in the box for the buyer (with a color change from white to black). The paint, which may or may not be original, has some minor issues but the photos suggest nothing needs immediate attention. While the selling price may be fixed, the seller is willing to consider trading for another vintage auto (which ones?).
That is one sweet-looking old C-body Mopar. Considering everything that’s been done, it’s really a screaming deal for a top-down super cruiser that can haul ass with that 440.
Won’t last long, however I would have a hard time using the black top.

Paint is original if it is I would go to the auto parts store 🏬 pick up buy a container of rubbing compound and color back compound and bring back the gloss, glow, luster and high buff paint political shine ✨ of the paint 🎨 color or better yet still do some research 🧐🔬 find and locate a very good reputable antique, classic and vintage automobile restoration specialist that’s going to take the time do job and work not only right but leave no stone unturned takes care, decency, dignity, honor, loyalty, honesty, integrity, pride, respect 🫡 ✊🏾 and trust in the process, and professionalism of the people and work ethic that each other can achieve and know how to do.
Oof. A 440/4bbl Chrysler 300 convertible for $13k? How many banks do I have to rob to cover the price for this beauty? I’m amazed that the price isn’t over $20k, this 300 is in phenomenal shape, except for the top which comes with a new one anyway. Anyone in the market for a Chrysler letter car should jump on this one, fast.

Never could appreciate the Fuselage design. But this seems to be a bon marche for a Chrysler enthusiast. They just don’t build anything even close to this anymore. 😕
The 440 was standard equipment on the 300.
Wow this is one incredible 300. Personally, I think a black top would just pop and make a nicr contrast with the white paint, and will go good with the black interior. But thats me. If it were burgundy or dark blue or turquoise Id go with a white top. I sure hope this goes to a good home and that they enjoy opening up that 440. What a great engine.
I wonder if there is a bubble somewhere in the details. $13,000.00 for a definitely beautiful piece of American design and workmanship seems like a dream come true OR – a nightmare. But probably not. IF – everything checks out and it runs as good as it looks – “ HECK YEAH, SIGN ME UP!”. I LOVE these fuselage cars – AND A 440/4bbl? $13,000.00? I prefer the ’69-’70 300’s 2 door hardtop and convertibles when they are equipped with bucket seats and console floor shifters. This one is so nice that even I’d ignore the column shifter, but I couldn’t handle no AC and can’t imagine the gas mileage. Hope it finds a good home.
That everything is apparently numbers-matching is a big plus. With the condition of this car and the low mileage, the broadcast sheet should still be there. No AC would be a deal breaker but it would give a buyer room to negotiate. Given how much has been done and how much still needs to be done, the asking price seems fair.
A black top? On a no A/C unit? Nope…Very nice 300 anyway you slice it!
Seems like so many people are complaining about the lack of AC. At this price I think adding AC would be easy. Vintage Air comes to mind.
