Looks and Power! 1994 Chevrolet Corvette Callaway SuperNatural

Some cars represent a triumph of style over substance, with performance that doesn’t befit their looks. However, there are no such issues with this 1994 Chevrolet Corvette Callaway SuperNatural. The classy and sleek exterior is perfectly complemented by an engine that churns out 50% more power than the production unit. Fast? Undoubtedly. The interior is plush and comfortable, meaning this Callaway offers something for everyone.

The Corvette C3 was always going to be a tough act to follow, and the reception received by its C4 replacement was initially mixed. Reviewers and buyers almost universally praised the styling but were less impressed with the car’s performance. As we will see, some dedicated individuals addressed the lack of engine power, while the styling only changed evolutionarily during the entire production run. This 1994 model presents superbly in its original shade of Ruby Red Metallic. The seller states that a previous owner performed a repaint, and the mirror shine it retains confirms the work was performed to a high standard. The ‘Vette features a matching soft-top in excellent condition, and there are no issues with the panels, trim, or glass. Rounding out the exterior are the 17″ “sawblade” wheels that add a sense of purpose.

Buyers ordering a 1994 Corvette received a 5.7-liter V8 producing a respectable 300hp and 340 ft/lbs of torque. The ZR-1 variant was also available, pushing those figures to 405hp and 385 ft/lbs. This classic trumps them both, courtesy of magic woven by Callaway Engineering of Old Lyme, Connecticut. Initially tuned by those specialists as a SuperNatural 400, it was handed back to the gurus a year later for a further upgrade to SuperNatural 450 specs. The process included increasing the engine capacity to 6.3-liters, upgrading the cylinder heads, and throttle body, fitting tubular exhaust headers, and tweaking the engine’s electronics. As the designation suggests, the driver now commands a car with 450hp under their right foot. The power feeds to the road via a six-speed manual transmission, making this a vehicle that can show the legendary ZR-1 a clean set of heels. The dash plaque is intact, along with documentation confirming that this Callaway is the genuine article. Dyno sheets support the power claim, and although it doesn’t clock enormous miles every year, the seller hits the road regularly to ensure that all is well. The buyer will reap the rewards of this approach, with this ‘Vette a turnkey proposition that runs and drives perfectly.

The main focus of the SuperNatural 450 package might be on outright performance, but the interior appointments ensure that occupants live in the lap of luxury. From the supple rich Ruby Red leather trim to features like air conditioning, power windows, power locks, and power seats, this interior has something for everyone. Its presentation is hard to fault, with no wear or other issues. The trim and plastic are in good order, a previous owner replaced the Delco/Bose AM/FM CD/cassette stereo in 2014, and the A/C has been updated to R134a refrigerant. The final piece of the puzzle for those wishing to personalize their motoring experience is the console-mounted knob that controls the three-setting Selective Ride suspension system.

This 1994 Chevrolet Corvette Callaway SuperNatural is a stunning classic with a drivetrain promising exceptional performance. It has no apparent needs, its paint shines beautifully, and the interior guarantees total comfort on every journey. The seller has listed it here on Barn Finds Classifieds in Norfolk, Connecticut. The asking price of $28,500 is extremely competitive, so if you long for a classic that perfectly combines looks and power, this Callaway is worth a close look.

My biggest concern with a build like this is finding someone who knows how to work on it should it ever need it.
    Good price.

Calloway authorized dealerships can work on it, for sure.

It’s still just a smallblock Chevy.

I hope they didn’t hack up the dash when they took out the radio. I’d get that replaced right away. Otherwise, this looks super clean. Repaints on something this recent always make me leary though.

Something is amiss here. The badging and ruby red inside and out are a ‘93 40th anniversary edition, not a 1994.

Absolutely a 1993. You can see the anniversary badges on the front fenders. Plus the BF classified states it is a 1993. Oops!

Not off topic but not specific to this car: how well did/does the select ride feature work?

I am seriously not a fan of C4s, but this one is interesting. For someone looking for a fairly rare and fast C4, this is it. I really can’t find much to fault this car for, (except that it’s a C4) Decent price, and should make someone pretty happy.

After C3s, C4s are my second favorite Corvettes so far as styling that I find attractive. I think the C4s are currently the best bargain in the Corvette world. Considering what you are getting with this car; the asking price seems quite reasonable to me. Of course you could also get a nice C3 for around the same amount. I’m sometimes tempted to get back into Corvettes but for me to take action I would have to significantly thin my current herd. If this sells then some happy buyer will be sporting a big grin on their face as they row through the gears of this one. GLWTS.
