Mild To Wild! Midwest Projects

In the middle of Iowa lies a very eclectic collection of vehicles. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the collection, but there’s no doubt that almost anyone could find a cool project here. It’s unclear from the ad, but the seller appears to be a dealer/flipper. There are quite a number of vehicles listed here on Craigslist and the ad says “ask and I prob have it or can get it.” Have a look at these unique finds and thanks to Big_Fun for the tip on this cool collection!

How about a couple of four-door classics to start with? The 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air wagon looks like it has had some trim removed, but doesn’t look too bad in this photo. The asking price is $4,500, which seems like a decent price. Behind the Bel Air sits a 1968 Nova that the seller says is an SS 4-speed with “very nice” original paint.

One of the best looking cars in the ad is this flat-black 1978 Chevy El Camino. The cowl hood hides a 5.3 liter LS engine topped by a Holley Terminator and backed by a turbo 400 transmission bolted to a 9-inch Ford rear end. The asking price is $7,500, which doesn’t seem too bad if the work that has been done is of good quality.

Another clean vehicle is this 1993 GMC Typhoon. It’s hard to see if this one is black on black or black on grey. If it is the latter, there were less than 100 made! The asking price is $14,500, which seems pretty steep for a 28-year-old mini SUV. What do you think?

One of the oldest vehicles listed is this 1934 flatbed Ford. The seller only says “nice cab” so I’m not sure how the rest of the truck is. If this truck isn’t rescued and used by a business for advertising, it might be better off as a street rod with a frame transplant. The asking price is $6,500, which is probably a bargain on a per-pound basis, but seems pretty strong if the only usable parts are the cab, hood, fenders, and grille.

One of the most unique vehicles is this 1978 Suzuki Wet Bike. It was an early form of a jet ski and comes complete with a title and service manual.

This ride is a 1967 Chevrolet Step Van that has been converted to a camper. The ad says it runs and drives and it has an asking price of $4,500. Overall, this is an interesting collection. Which vehicle is your favorite?

Funny that there’s no mention of the Europas
    in the trailer.

A ‘68 Nova SS w/4 speed? 4 door? What am I missing here?

The SS is the red 2 door parked inside, shown in pictures number 2 and 6, not the 4 door behind the 57 wagon.

I’ll take the Elky, Typhoon and the Step Van. Now does anybody have any cash burning holes in their pockets that they could lend me?

Looks like the remains of an ERCO Ercoupe behind the jetski. Neat airplanes if in good condition. Not much else caught my eye. Although, the Europas would be interesting if we had more of an idea of their condition and how complete everything is.

Looks like that Camino has a turbo setup on it as well. Might be fun if it’s setup right

I’ll take the Bel Air!!! I always wanted a 57, I love wagons, and to me a 4 door is far more practical. Perfect! Still a bit pricey for a project, but not completely unreasonable.
That step van is screaming “Food truck!”

If you think the price for the Typhoon is steep, then you don’t know what a Typhoon is, it has quite the following.

Loving the 1967 Chevrolet Step Van. The whole conversion thing is huge right now. Looks like a lot of the hard work is done already. Doesn’t get much more unique.

By all means the 34 Ford.
I would leave it alone, just put new tires on it, replace the windshield, change out those awful sealed beam conversions, fix the mirror and DRIVE!
The last thing I would do would destroy this by making a street rod out of it, just because its old does not mean it has to be a street rod or something along those lines. LEAVE IT ORIGINAL!
The only advantage to making this a street rod is it makes the all original truck I have now worth more!

The Typhoon trips my trigger! Maybe the ElCamino if it is not a butcher job! Only trouble is that I’m some 1500 miles East.

Well, I’m glad it’s all way overpriced considering Carroll, IA is about 130 miles away. I have too much stuff already.
