People sometimes equate the 1953-55 Chevy Corvettes and the 1955-57 Ford Thunderbirds as both being sports cars. But the only thing they had in common was no back seat. While the Corvette was conceived as a sports car, the T-Bird was a personal luxury vehicle that proved more popular than the Chevy. This example from 1957 looks to be in stellar condition from the limited photos the seller provides. And the seller isn’t asking crazy money. Our thanks to Barn Finder “Arkie” for the tip!
Ford’s bean counters thought the company could do better with the Thunderbird by growing it into a 4-seat touring car. So that’s what they did with the 1958 redesign – and three-year sales went from 53,000 units to 198,000 by 1960. In the meantime, the Corvette continued to serve a smaller audience and slowly grew to annual sales of just 10,000 units. The 1957 T-Bird is considered by many to be the most attractive of the first generation as the body took on more sharply angled cues.
This ’57 T-Bird looks to have been restored although the seller only mentions that the interior is brand new. The indicated mileage is 14,000 and the seller makes no big deal of that, so the odometer must have turned over at some point. The black paint on the bottom half of the car is bright and shiny, and the white top is equally nice. They’re offset smartly by that red interior which reflects an aftermarket air conditioner under the dash.
We’re told the Ford drives quite well, thanks in part to its 312 cubic inch V8 and automatic transmission. All service records have been kept, which should help sort out the true mileage of the fine Thunderbird. Located north of Atlanta, Georgia, this sweet ride is available here on craigslist for $15,000. The seller sweetens the pot by offering to accept cryptocurrency and provide delivery (for a certain distance we assume).
If this car is as nice as it looks in pics upon a closer inspection, it’s a great deal, assuming the engine and mechanicals are solid. The dash pad is covered so that could be an issue, as well as the condition of the soft top. Add some wide whitewalls and the wire caps and this car would really pop.
That black/white/red combination really looks good on this T-Bird. Only four pics. If the car (and the story) pass closer scrutiny, looks like a more than fair price.
I am skeptical ,it looks too nice for 15 K!
Yep. Always a chance of being wrong, but there is a lot things that aren’t right with this ad, too cheap, vague description (written by someone that doesn’t seem to know about cars), not enough pictures, as mentioned below accept crypto.
If interested you see it in person and make sure you are talking to the registered owner.

Looks like a scam to me… the price is too cheap, and accepting Crypto as a payment method kind of gives it away.
The car is in Atlanta and the contact number is a Georgia phone number but I’m skeptical for also
I’m sure they be more than happy to hold it for everyone that wires them a deposit.

Yep… scam.
I am almost certain it is a scam. 15 years ago I paid $25K for my ’57 Bird and then put another $15K+ into it to bring it up to show quality. I am just now having A/C installed. Don’t get burned on this one!
Craig’s list + crypto + low price = likely scam
I like these and bid on one at the last Mecum and bailed out when the bidding was triple this ask. I’ll see if I can sniff this out.
I’ve contacted the seller. No response.
