Nice, Mostly Original 1971 Ford Bronco

First generation Ford Broncos are seeing their values continue to skyrocket and it seems like the seller of this 1971 is trying to ride that wave. It can be found here on eBay with an asking price of $24,900. Being offered for sale by FIT Automotive located in Sarasota, Florida, the ad states it is “very original…never been restored or modified.” As you’ll see it does seem to be never restored, but it has certainly been modified. Have a look for yourself, can you spot all the mods?

The ad says the power plant is the original 302 V8 with 2bbl carburetor. The first modification I spotted was the big aluminum radiator. The seller does say there is a new radiator, battery, alternator, and distributor under the hood, so they certainly aren’t trying to hide anything, but I would consider an aluminum radiator a “modification.” The ad goes on to say that it starts right up and runs well.

The interior features a roll cage, which is great for any type of serious off-roading. There are a few little things the new owner could address like the missing steering wheel center or the bent/broken glove box door.

Perhaps the most glaring modification is the trimmed rear quarter panels. Since this Bronco is otherwise fairly original, it probably wouldn’t make sense to replace the sheet metal at this point. It would be nearly impossible to match the paint and there isn’t a huge benefit to return them to stock once the factory metal is gone. Overall, this seems like a pretty decent truck. The seller does say there is “rust in the usual spots” but it doesn’t look too bad from the photos. If someone is thinking about spending this much money on an early Bronco, an in-person inspection would probably be prudent. What do you think about this one?

Is the engine bay a different shade of green ? Or am I seeing things ? Might be the sun.

No sun. Just didn’t pull the engine to paint everything. That’s the light green you see all the time on these rigs.

A lot of “shine ” on the right lower corner of the brake pedal, Means it’s been stepped on many, many times, I’d replace the pedal pad and keep going replacing everything all the way back to the drums, (and replace the wheel bearings) if it was my vehicle

    a 50 y/o vehicle is an ‘interesting’ buy, wrkin w/dealers more so…

The busted glovie could B frm tryin to open its door into the bar (they mod when puttin in a cage).”…their values continue to skyrocket…” actually the celling was hit last winter at #1 and the bronk has fallen to 23rd or so this 8 mo later). But I would agree – lotsa mods. Just means closer inspection and face-to- face Q to ask.
Altho not the ‘base model’ as oem it has not been carved up, and weirdly added onto – that many the typical “florida man” might do. Surprised to see all the native grass in the pic too. Don’t remember all that on my visits to Sarasota (Longboat Key) over the last 30, 40 yrs…
