I must hand it to long-time commenter Howard A. You wanted dragsters here, and Tony Primo apparently heard. Thanks, Tony, for tipping us off on this beautiful Funny Car for sale. Different from the last Funny Car I wrote about, this one has a fresh NHRA cert tag and is ready to race. McKinney has been building Funny Cars since 1981 and is a known leader in the field, supplying many of the top Funny Car teams. This ready-to-race, McKinney-built 1970 Firebird Nostalgia Nitro Funny Car is available for the 2027 season now here on racingjunk.com. It is located in Rocklin, California

The ad lists many details, but here are some highlights. The engine is a 500 cubic-inch DSR Aluminum Hemi. It has BAE Billet cylinder heads, a Blower Shop 6-71 blower, CP Carillo Pistons, BME aluminum rods, a Bryant Crankshaft, Stage 5 & Cluff Rockers, Jesel Lifters, RCD Gear Drive, Waterman Fuel Pump, MSD ignition, Raven Headers with EGT Probes, Lenco 2 Speed Transmission, and much more that I don’t have room to list here. The ad lists everything a knowledgeable buyer needs to know.

The lightweight Carbon Fiber body is ready for any custom paint, sponsor logos, or a vinyl wrap. The car has run 5.60’s at over 250 miles per hour.  It also won the Legends Event at Pomona in 2023! The seller claims no expense has been spared in setting this Race Car up to be competitive on the track.  NHRA’s 75th Anniversery season in 2026 included  11 events with the Legacy Nitro Funny Car Series. The events are spread across the western United States and Canada. The nostalgia associated with these Nitro Funny Cars resonates with drag racing fans everywhere. I can practically feel my ears pounding and my nose burning from the nitromethane. You cannot beat the feeling you get when you are in the pits and one of these fires up!

The seller claims the complete package is ready for immediate sale and can go on tour right away without paying thousands of dollars to set it up yourself. I know serious buyers will be looking closely at this. I don’t know if $79,500 is a good price, since I have never bought a Nostalgia Funny Car, but racingjunk.com has others for sale, and prices vary. Check this out for yourself. I would love to find out if someone buys it and how successful they are in 2027!
