One Family Owned: 1990 Ford Bronco 4×4

There’s a formula out there for square body trucks that makes them damn near irresistible: two-tone paint, Centerline wheels, and near bone-stock condition. You put that together and you’ve got a perfect combination for a truck you’ll love to own and one that will be easy to sell down the road. This 1990 Ford Bronco 4×4 checks those boxes and then some, and it’s also a one-family owned example. The Bronco is listed here on eBay with bids to $8,100 and no reserve.

The Bronco is one of those vehicles that seems to have a high likelihood of emerging in preserved condition if it remains in the care of its original owners. I see plenty of used-up beaters sitting in someone’s driveway, halfway taken apart in pursuit of a failed off-road “build” that will never happen. But examples like this one that remained with an older owner for much of its life before being transitioned to family ownership almost always appear in lovely condition. I suspect those owners really do cherish these trucks.

In many ways, a Bronco (and, of course, the Blazer) are the labrador retriever of the 4×4 world, a dependable, fun-loving companion that doesn’t ask for much in return. Plus, the Bronco has always been a comfortable place to spend time, with plenty of room for four adults and their gear, and the usual assortment of comfort and convenience features. The dashboard is uncracked, the carpets are clean, and the upholstery looks to be in excellent condition. Mileage is listed as just under 116,000.

The curious thing about Broncos that I see is the later production models command far more active bidding the models like these do. The later trucks from the middle 90s benefit from a few different cosmetic tweaks that make it appear far more modern and upscale trims like the Eddie Bauer edition make it even more pleasant inside. This Bronco still checks a lot of boxes for the squarebody shopper, the most obvious of which is the clean condition.

Nice Bronco. I agree with Jeff’s first sentence, especially the two-tone paint comment. It gives these vehicles an old-school look, but which to me is distinctive yet attractive. Reading the ebay ad there are a few deficiencies but nothing serious. Right now this example isn’t bid to a real high number. I think the market for these will continue to pick up steam.

Ditto on the two-paint scheme. My 1989 GMC Jimmy was awesome and one vehicle I wish I had onto through the years. This one, to me, fits the ‘survivor’ class recognition. GLWTS

Solid, honest 4wd vehicles, the Twin Traction Beam setup. Had a 150 with a HD front end..dual shocks, believe it may have been part of a sno-plow prep pkg. I like these Broncos, the back comes off for some extra summer fun. ☀️ 🥳

I had a 91 Bronco with the 5.0, the thing was like driving a tank and I did love it. Unfortunately, like every Ford, I spent more time working on it as I did driving it (damn EGR- never did fix that check engine light). I think I had it in 4 wheel drive once, always said I was going to take the top off but I never did. I believe they sprayed salt water in every crevice they could at the factory (lol). That being said, if fate dropped another 90s Bronco in my lap I would love to own one again but it would have to be a creampuff. GLWTA

Not the original owner. They’ve only had it since 1993

The Fords of this era were called Bricknoses, not squarebodys (that’s a GM term!). Very nice for one that has 116K on the clock. Surprised that this doesn’t have a reserve but that could lead to some spirited bidding.

Nice 4be, but she looks under tired, meaning the wheels/tyres are to small. For onroad use?

It sold for 12,900. Not bad for a dependable 4 wheel drive vehicle. I’m a GM man though but I’d still drive it. Lol 😆
