At the top of the Cadillac food chain, the Brougham replaced the Fleetwood Brougham for 1987-92. In 1993, the Fleetwood name would return but the cars were nonetheless luxurious. With just 33,000 miles, this dark blue 1989 beauty belonged to the seller’s grandparents who bought it new. It’s been tucked away in a garage since 2005 and has had some recent servicing. Located near Atlanta, Georgia, this Caddy is available here on craigslist for $22,750. Thanks, J.T., for bringing this tip our way!
The Brougham, with its abbreviated name, ran for six model years and saw more than 233,000 copies leave Cadillac’s assembly plants. Demand decreased from year to year but was still strong at more than 40,000 units in 1989. Because the cars were smaller and lighter than their 1970s counterparts, the Brougham only had a 5.0-liter V8 engine (just 307 cubic inches) which was supplied by Oldsmobile and rated at 140 hp. The only transmission was a 4-speed Turbo-Hydramatic 200-4R automatic.
We’re told this Caddy was never driven by anyone other than the seller’s non-smoking grandparents, and its passenger list excluded any children and pets. For the past two decades since their passing, the automobile has lived inside a garage and was recently treated to new tires, brakes, A/C, and some other items that tallied $2,000 for whichever receipts can prove.
This comes across as a turnkey luxury car that you could drive anywhere. If you were looking to start a vintage limo service, this Cadillac might fit the bill. Everything works as it should and it comes with paperwork going back to Day 1, including dealer documents, Cadillac service records, and more. Considering that the seller’s asking price will only get you a newer econobox, why not go in style in this pampered survivor?
Pretty sweet Bro-ham
Nice car, but you better off getting a 90-92 with the chev 350 efi, that 307 from Caprice wagons are soo slooow😎
The Craiglist ad appears to have been written by a 10 year old. Not sure I trust this caddy,
The days are numbered for these luxury barges. I have owned three of them. A 1974, 1981 and 1983. Unless you live in a rural area they are no fun to drive anymore. The parking spaces keep getting smaller and motorists more impatient.
& also beware the hiways with an “added lane” where the others lanes have been shrunk in width.
Anybody know what’s the WIDEST car ever made? ’70 imperial or Fury or early ’70’s full size Caddy’s? Heaven help anyone driving any of these cars on an “added lane” hiway that also has a construction zone where the lanes may even be narrower! & the concrete barriers are right where the lane marker used to be!
I believe the widest car may have been the 60 Fords/Edsels. I recall reading that years ago–just a smidge over 80″.
The 307 is a Olds motor,not a Chevy Caprice 305.
The 307 Olds was the only motor you got in a Caprice wagon 87-90, the Caprice sedans had the 305 Chevy that recieved efi in 89.
🎶 …….Ah – hooo werewolves of London.. ah-hoooo 🎵 he’s the hairy handed gent who ran amok in kent , lately he’s been overhead in mayfair…. you better stay away from him…he’ll rip your lungs out Jim .. 🎶
Last seen sipping a pina colada at Trader Vics.
Little old lady got mutilated.
Nice car $17,750 to much
Agree. They should just give you this old boat so you can advertise it for 25k
Lots of money for a 5.0 engine.
My Dad had luxo barges for many years, all the way from the 50’s through the early ’90’s. Caddy’s identical to this one and Town Cars too.
Never realized back then that they’d be retro-cool these days.
A period of Americana that is tattooed into my DNA.
Think I better get hold of this guy………….
Tint the back windows, very nice Low Rider.
I find the comments, left here on BF, have become increasingly crast, rude, and pitiful. Some of us have a deep appreciation for these classic rides, or we wouldn’t bother reading these “finds”. How one could ever pick apart the Seller’s write up as sounding like a 10 year old wrote it… REALLY? Perhaps everyone doesn’t write properly, or doesn’t describe their cars for sale with 100% accuracy, REALLY? SO WHAT? I say enough already, ENOUGH! Our world has enough sewage without all of the smart-a$$ replies. Our local Cars and Coffee groups, and car enthusiasts gatherings and shows are full of friends, good hearted conversation, and no one cares whether one drives a Ferrari or a Ford Escort. We are fortunate enough to enjoy one of the last great bastians of fun, without being “judged” to death. Shame on those who feel so priveleged as to throw shade on others who just enjoy their cars like everyone else. PLEASE post this, as I know several friends of mine who have expressed the same… To the rude elite, trying to ruin this for everyone else, take your garbage elsewhere, this is not YOUR PERFECT world.
Thanks for your post. I feel the same as I said in my post this morning. I hope the nasty comment people come back and review what others have written. This caddy is a beautiful well maintained survivor. If it were a Camaro or other muscle car there would not be near the negative comments. I am afraid the internet has made nasty people even more so because they can be impersonal
Our country is full of “greedy”, “self indulgent”, “self absorbed” hypocrites! You reap what you sew! George Carlin had this nation of “stellar” people down pat!
I had a 92 with fuel infection It was a very nice ride and not bad on gas for its time
No kids ever sat in the car. Hey Pop, can I go with you? “NO!”
The fuel infection may have kept the miles down.
Where’s the engine? I can’t see the engine!
That 307 was an Olds, had 2, they were surprising very adaquit. The 305 was Chevy and a lot were dogs.
I have onelike this and it has a quadrajet 4 barrel. Seems like the previous owner never liked kids.Bet they only had 1. I pity the kid too. The Caddy is way over priced. Bet it would have a hard time getting up to 45. Sitting all that time. Better replace all the vaccum lines and gaskets. Just changing the valve cover gaskets is a pain in the a$%. It takes about 2 days to do that. Moving alot of stuff out of the way.
This looks like my Dad’s last car,but his
was a lighter blue color. It was nice looking,
but a gutless wonder. He’d brag about how it
got 21 mpg on the highway.
He offered to give it to me when he quit driving, but
I took a pass on it,& let my brother have it.Almost wish that
I’d owned it,just to experience it.
Love those cars but I doubt a 307 was enough to get it up to highway speed at an on ramp.
I cannot believe the negative comments on this beautiful luxury ride. Unless you’re unlucky enough to live/work in a big city or heavily populated area, this vehicle – priced at half what the gumdrop-shaped cars today are priced -makes good sense. As far as acceleration up an on-ramp, I’ve had the unfortunate experience to be behind lots of under-powered, under-aggressive-driven vehicles to believe this is certainly no worse than much of what is on the roads today.
I agree. You pay a higher price for a nice low mileage car. There seem to be some bitter people. Also I cannot imagine that it is as slow as the remarks make it seem. I had a 82 delta 88 with a small v8 and it had plenty of power.
