The Chevy II arrived in 1962 as Chevrolet’s second compact car. It came with rather ordinary engineering compared to the Corvair with its rear-mounted, air-cooled engine. The Nova was the premier model, and the name replaced the Chevy II altogether in 1969. The seller has two Novas from 1970, but they don’t have that much in common, as one is a 2-door coupe and the other a 4-door sedan. Located in Spokane, Washington, this duo is available as a package deal for $10,000 here on craigslist. The source of this West Coast tip? “Curvette”, of course!
Changes to the 1970 Nova were minimal compared to the 1969 editions. The front turn signal lenses were larger and clear in color, and the side marker lights were different. But the rest of the cars were largely carryovers. Despite this, sales increased by nearly 22% from 252,000 units to 307,000. I had a 1970 coupe back in the day with a 350 cubic inch V8 and a Powerglide automatic – and wish I still had it. With these two cars, it’s odd they both have the same stripes on the deck lid.
1970 Nova Coupe
This is the vehicle on the trailer with the aftermarket wheels. We’re told it’s a V8 with an automatic transmission, but which pairing was it (may be missing)? The odometer has turned over, but that won’t matter much if the powertrain is MIA. The body will need new quarter panels and a back panel between the taillights, and replacements will come with the sale. No pics of the interior are offered, either, so the extent of the work needed is hard to assess.
1970 Nova Sedan
On the other hand, this Nova looks reasonably solid and does run. The front fender crest says a 307 V8 is under the hood, and it’s probably hooked up to a Powerglide or TH-350. No photos of the interior or engine compartment are included, so you’ll have to guess that it may be at least in daily driver condition. The poverty hub caps actually look good on the Chevy.
Seller would have better luck offering them separately.
If I had the time, space and money I would flip the coupe and drive the 4 door.
My thoughts are the same. The 4 door is complete and a V8. needs more pictures here to sell. Sometimes 4 doors are ok.
My buddy had a 64 Valiant more door with a hot 340/ four speed back in 84-88. Beat up on the Mustangs and Camaros pretty well.
I think the seller is suggesting you use the body panels off the 4 door to repair the 2 door. Anyone interested needs to get in touch with the seller and clarify exactly what comes with the purchase.

There’s a pair of Novas for sale in my town too. A decent/running 4 door and an engineless 2 door that needs front end work— must be an eastern Washington thing
