One Year Wonder: 1967 Pontiac Grand Prix

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

The Pontiac Grand Prix debuted in 1962 as a personal luxury car and would be around literally for decades. But only for one model year was a convertible offered, and 1967 was it. Part of the car’s second generation, only 5,856 drop-top models were produced before Pontiac discontinued the body style. Located in Santa Rosa, California, this near show-quality beauty is available here on Facebook Marketplace for $25,000 so you can drive it home today! Thanks for the tip, Barn Finder T.J.!

Most cars the Grand Prix competed with were sold as 2-door hardtops. So, someone in Pontiac’s marketing department must have thought that adding a convertible would be a differentiator and a sales booster. Enter the 1967 Grand Prix convertible, an offering that would only see production for 12 months. We assume the fairly low build numbers compared to more than 37,000 coupes signaled that Marketing was wrong.

The seller is light on details about this treasure, though not so on photos. The car comes with a 400 cubic inch V8 (4-barrel carburetor, we assume), which had replaced the 389 after 1966. And the drop-top comes with a 4-speed manual transmission, which, if original, would make the ragtop supply even smaller than it already is. The indicated mileage is 59,000, which suggests the car has spent a lot more time in the garage than on the road.

Overall condition may tell us that we’re looking at a partial restoration. But the seller provides no history, so we’ll have to leave the auto’s 9+ condition (per the seller) to our imagination. This should make for a great weekend cruiser and the occasional Cars & Coffee entry at a price that may not be crazy money by today’s standards.

Most of us would agree. Upon realizing this I let loose with a Frank Barone “Holy Crap”!

Wow! Be still my Poncho heart! My favorite year “B” body Pontiac, in white, convertible AND a 4 speed! And only about 3 hours away. (Depending on the day) The only thing better would be the timing. (Really disappointed about that.)

Sale pending. If it’s as nice in person as it is in the pictures this was a good deal. This is another example of how good deals don’t lest (add posted for 2 days).

Barn Finds placed the heart starter at the end of the thread. Wow. What a beauty. Something about a big car with a 4-speed just makes me want to grab the keys and drive.

Considering how few were made it seems a lot have survived. So many years ago a guy who had the area wrecking yard drove a plum colored one. The car was kind of a rat 30 odd years ago. I’m sure he knew what he had.

Because they are popular, the driving factor that produces a quick sale is the good price.

Ok, sorry. I’m a bit jealous of whoever bought this.

I know a couple of guys in Santa Rosa area that flip cars and would have jumped on this in a heartbeat. I’ll ask them if they bought it or know anything about it next time I see them.

When these were new I didn’t like the look of the front end, but the passing years have changed my opinion. The car looks good and it’s a 4 speed. It looks like a bargain at $25k.

Wasn’t that green ’68 coupe I saw last week on BF also from Santa Rosa?
