According to the ad, this 1976 Ford Bronco was parked in the 1980s and features original paint and un-cut rear quarters! It can be found here on eBay with an asking price of $65,000! While that might seem like a premium, these first-generation Broncos continue to increase in value. The classic car insurer Hagerty places the value of a “Good” condition 1976 Bronco at $68,800. Located in Springfield, Missouri, the seller doesn’t say where this Bronco has spent its life, but there seems to be very little rust on the body, which is typically a trouble spot for them. Check out this beautiful ride and thanks to T.J. for the tip on this one.
The interior appears to be super-clean and original. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better-looking interior that is nearly 50 years old. The seat covers were custom made with New-Old-Stock material, so they look original. Although the body looks very clean, the ad does say the driver’s side floor pan, doorposts, and inner fenders were replaced and painted. The tub was also sprayed with tinted bed liner.
The original 302 V8 is backed by the original C4 automatic transmission and only has 57k original miles! The ad says it has had a “full mechanical rebuild” including the engine, transmission, and suspension. You can see a power brake booster mounted on the firewall and what appears to be power steering hoses, which are both great options.
The rear quarter panels haven’t been trimmed like most first-generation Broncos. The wheels are new 17″ cream-colored steelies wrapped with BFGoodrich tires. Overall, this is an awesome ride and will be driven proudly by the new owner. What do you think about this one?
Gee…not much fun to drive on a road and too nice/expensive to drive in the dirt. A very useful acquisition.
57k and not all original paint, fenders not cut, but floor was, original ? but all that work done? For that price I would want one with nothing redone. Just me, but I still would not have that much cash for small uncomfortable ride.
How many synonyms for crazy ridiculously over priced!
I didn’t realize that there was a 17 inch wheel option back in the day.
there were not…a “G 16” I think… was optioned (6 or 7 in. rim = abt a 30X950X16 in pre metrics). As the eye sees now (used to one thing) the 17 seems right if aspect ratio is right too (in any ‘hight’). As I’ve heard said: “17s the new 15.”
Don’t forget – the ’76/7 R only ones to have discs up frnt. A 17 will clear any caliper, pretty much (less concern re “back spacin”).
I like the honesty by seller, color (tho that brilliant blue on the stang is my fav for the more on rd, off rd 1s – the norway grn) & 1 yr side stripe’s style. Am wrkin on 1 that’s an omage to the 1st moders (’80s style) and this might B a nice addition (tho will most likely do the p/u truck’s 3 panels – sides’n tailgait). Thnx Montana~
If you Look on Volocars.com they have a 1975 very similar in color etc…fully restored inside/outside detailed under carriage for $81,998. That seems to be more of a value being turnkey done! Just Sayn’
Awesome looking Bronco! Although I was way too young to drive a car at the time this generation Ford Bronco was sold, I remember these SUVs were on the market. I find the 1967 to 77 Bronco more attractive than the 1978-80 Bronco. I would prefer this any day over the current generation Bronco.
it’s 78/9. ’80 is in nxt gen (3rd).
Seller also has a 59 Chevy truck for $149k.
I saw the price , didn’t really read much into it. In 2005 i tried a nice one for 3250, eh it was ok, but it didn’t move me, now you want over 10 times that, no way, I will opt for the new one , not the old one, for that kinda cash the novelty has worn off, im calling the kings clothing on this one. Enough is Enough
I agree. While I like the Bronco itself, I wouldn’t pay $68,000 for it. I’d pay close to $30,000 for a vehicle like this.
15 in only from factory.
It says “or make offer” . I was at an estate auction that had a 1 owner , half cab , 69 Bronco Sport with a 6 and 3 on the tree in April . It had last been PA. inspected in 91 and it had been parked in a shed since that sticker ran out . They said it started on carb.spray . It showed 6k miles so I believe what they said , it was 106k . It looked good in the pictures online , other than the tailgate , but on in person inspection it needed both front floor pans , inner and outer rockers , at least cab 2 supports and a right back inner tailgate support plus many other things I’m sure would have shown up when you started to work on it . It had it’s original paint witch would have been great for a patina look but for a correct resto. it needed redone , the underside had dealer installed thick tar type undercoating that probably hid many sins . I stopped at $24900 and the next bid of $25k bought it . I did get a nice running , driving 46 CJ2A with 20k orig. miles . I think if you paid what these go for in good restorable condition for the one listed in a public venue and did the work that was done you would have close to the BIN price in it . They still exist in the wild that can be bought right from unknowing owners but they’re far and few between . I don’t think this is a bad deal at all . That’s just my humble take on it .
