Vintage SUVs and carryalls have become increasingly popular with collectors and builders, and this 1963 International Travelall offers plenty of character. With a weathered turquoise-and-rust patina, 3/4-ton bones, a 4-speed manual transmission, and a freshly rebuilt 345-cubic-inch V8 waiting to be installed, this Travelall looks like a promising project for someone who appreciates old International trucks. The seller purchased the Travelall about a year ago and has reassembled as much of the truck as possible. It is believed to have come from Wyoming and may have served as a state park vehicle, though that history has not been verified. The mud flaps it’s equipped with used to be a common sight in Wyoming. The current title status is listed as missing, so prospective buyers should investigate registration requirements in their state before purchasing.
The engine bay is currently empty, but the sale includes a freshly rebuilt 345 cubic-inch International V8 to be installed. The truck is equipped with a 4-speed standard transmission, and the seller describes it as a solid 3/4-ton Travelall overall. Photos show the rebuilt engine out of the vehicle, the empty engine compartment, drivetrain-related components, and several detail shots of the body, interior, and underside.
Cosmetically, the Travelall has the kind of honest patina that cannot be recreated easily. The exterior wears faded green paint with surface rust, sunburn, and weathering throughout. The body and frame are described as decent, and the seller notes that the floor pans are generally solid, likely needing only some patching on the driver’s side before prep and coating.
Inside, the Travelall is very much a project. The connection to Wyoming adds even more interest for me personally, having grown up there, but finding a connection to the State Parks system might be a challenge. It isn’t likely to add any monetary value, but it certainly adds to the story.
This 1963 International Travelall will require mechanical assembly, interior work, title resolution, and continued sorting, but it has the right raw material: a solid 3/4-ton body, heavy-duty character, 4-speed transmission, rebuilt 345 V8, and excellent visual patina. For someone looking for a distinctive vintage 4×4-era project with real truck roots, this International deserves a closer look.
