Fully rotisserie-restored, this iconic 4×4 combines Toyota’s legendary durability with a freshened look that’s ready for both trail and show duty. This ultra-rare 1976 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45, now listed for sale here on Craigslist out of Seattle, Washington. Finished in a deep brown exterior with a bold retro-style orange interior, this FJ45 offers vintage appeal while promising reliable use thanks to its thorough restoration. The seller describes it as ready to “unleash your adventure,” whether that means hauling gear, overlanding, or simply enjoying it as a collector-grade classic. Thanks to Curvette for the tip!

The FJ45 is among the rarest of the Land Cruiser family, particularly in the U.S., where these long-wheelbase truck variants were never sold in large numbers. Known for their toughness in remote regions worldwide, surviving examples are prized by off-road enthusiasts and collectors alike, especially when restored to this level.

The body and chassis have reportedly been given a full rotisserie restoration, which is a major selling point for buyers wary of hidden rust. The brown paint suits its utilitarian roots, while the orange interior adds a fun contrast that plays up the FJ’s 1970s character. Inside, the cabin appears clean and simple, staying true to Toyota’s original rugged design philosophy.

Power comes from its original inline-six paired with a manual transmission, giving drivers full control over low-range crawling or highway cruising. While the seller doesn’t provide details on whether the engine was rebuilt during restoration, the “modern reliability” claim suggests that the drivetrain has been thoroughly sorted.

With its combination of rarity, fresh restoration, and go-anywhere capability, this FJ45 could appeal to both collectors and off-road adventurers. Whether you’d take it into the wild or keep it as a showpiece, it represents one of Toyota’s most desirable Land Cruiser models. Would you use this FJ45 as an overlander, or preserve it as a collector truck?

Overlander or collector. Hmmm. It’d be ok at both but it’s a great, easy to work on, simple 1/2 ton truck. IDK what most folks think but it’d make for a terrific everyday truck though I’d put a Barden-type bumper on the back and use it.
Try to buy a full size pickup you can use/work on yourself without a myriad of computers built into it and you’ll come to appreciate something like this one.
And you definitely won’t mistake it for anyone else’s truck in the hardware store parking lot.
I drove a newer version of this while stationed in Korea, which were vehicles donated from the Iraq war from the Japanese military. Tough, dependable, hard as nails little vehicle. This optimizes a real work ready vehicle, no fluff, just tuff.
The price is in the Craigslist link…$47,700 👍
It’s not uncommon for good deals to sell quickly and/or an ad to be deleted, depending on the platform the price disappears too.

Nice restoration! Asking price is fair for the amount of work done, it still has over 200,000 miles on it, does that make a difference at this point?
There are plenty of these vehicles in South Africa still in use today.
I’d rather have this instead of a new Ford ranger, Tacoma etc for the same money any day.
I would drive this daily, beautiful, great write-up, shoud be on BAT, would get over 75,000 I bet!
I’ve seen these go up steep hills that motorcycles couldn’t conquer!
No kidding.. I had an FJ40 and I used to tell people it would climb up the side of a building. Obviously that was a considerable exaggeration but they are amazing off road.
Jack I failed many a hill on my Enduro bike. Mostly in summer ☀️ when it was so bone dry, just couldn’t get traction. I remember one embarrassing instance, about 3/4 way up and I started spinning and knew I was doomed, started rolling backwards and quickly dumped it in front of a small crowd. 😲💁♂️ I uprighted the bike took off my helmet and yelled this hill requires 4wd. Lol 😂
That 2F in line 6 is unstoppable except the filling stations , a V8 gets better mileage but as I said unstoppable , Keep a couple of platica lids and a truck tire inner tube handy to rebuild the fuel
Pump and good to go !! Climb any mountain Ford any stream !!
Beautiful looking Land Cruiser. I’d buy one if I could have a small diesel engine installed under the hood.
looks like you’re buying the restoration
What’s not included anywhere in the ad is that this is not a US-spec vehicle (the FJ45 LWB was only available in the US 1963-67). Based on some visual cues, I think this is likely to be from Costa Rica, Venezuela or Colombia and buyers should be careful of “restorations” coming from those markets. While the quality of the work varies wildly and there are high-quality restorers in all three markets, most of the “restored” imported Land Cruisers that have made it to the US are more than anything cosmetically cleaned up and often times hide a lot of bondo or crude metalwork behind shiny paint. They’re even more suspect mechanically, especially the FJ45 LWB variants since they’re used as work vehicles under extreme conditions.
The color here is stock Toyota for that year, but a 1976 should have black vinyl interior, not brown.
Caveat emptor, proceed with extreme caution with these imports.
I consider it damned unforgivable that this was never offered in the USA.
