It appears that this 1969 Ford Mustang Convertible has a ton of potential, but unfortunately, the seller has only posted a few photos in the ad with little information for potential buyers. It can be found here on Craigslist with an asking price of $7,500. Currently located in Savannah, Georgia, it would be really nice to know some history on the car. If it’s been in Georgia its whole life, it could be pretty solid. Based on the photos, it looks like a decent project, but its always hard to tell for sure. According to mainemustang.com, out of the nearly 300,000 Mustangs produced in 1969, only 11,307 were convertibles! Have a closer look at this project and see what you think. Thanks to Patrick S. for the tip on this rare ‘Stang!
As mentioned before, there are very few photos in the ad. There are no photos of the engine, so the only tease you get is the 351 hood scoop. The seller makes it clear the car is not in running condition but doesn’t say whether the drive train is original. The only clue is “It is a 351 V8 automatic convertible” which could mean that’s what it currently has or just what it was born with. Hopefully, they will be able to provide more information and photos to potential buyers.
While the taillight design of this particular model isn’t the most attractive, it still does the job. The symmetrical design of the taillights, reverse lights, gas filler, and lettering is definitely a nice touch. To me, this car looks like it’s begging for a nice wash and wax. I bet the white paint would clean up really well with some polishing.
Here is what the car could look like with a good restoration. Depending on whether the drive train is original or not could determine the direction of the build. If it’s not original, why not do a nice resto-mod like the car above? That would be my style, how about you?
Looks to be in decent shape and complete and a potential nice buy but the seller needs to get off his azz and take some decent pics. The picture of the restored one is sharp.
I spy some paint bubbling in the rear quarter with my little eye and we all know that’s probably just the tip of the iceberg. I agree about the photo of the finished one. This could be a sharp car. It’s also missing a pedal, IMO.
It has a few issues, but will be really nice restored.
11,307 convertibles, how many are left? I can’t remember the last time I have seen one. By contrast, they made 4385 GTO convertibles in 1969, I think all of them are still around! I’m not much of a Ford guy, but this could make a fantastic cruise night car, you likely would be the only one!
Really not a car you see as a convertible very much!! I can’t even remember the last time I saw a 69 convertible mustang!!!
