Reader Ad: 1990 Rockwood Class C

SOLD

I’m not sure what the RADwood’s rules are on entering an RV in one of their events, but I feel like this Rockwood should be welcome to attend! It’s going to need some work, as the interior was removed a few years back. Reader Brian P had plans of updating it, but the project stalled and now it just needs to go. It’s covered less than 20k miles since new and is in running and driving condition. With the interior put back together, it would be a fun rig to travel to events in! If you’d love to give it a closer look, you can find Brian’s contact info via the link below.

Asking Price: $7,500
Location: Scotia, New York
Mileage: 19,448
Title Status: Clean
VIN: 1FDKE30G5LHA09688

Seller’s Description: This is a low mileage one owner motorhome.

Body Condition: Engine, Transmission, Tires and Frame in A+ condition. Interior has been gutted, but never refitted.

Mechanical Condition: Excellent. Currently registered, insured, and driven.

I really hope that the next owner gets it back together and takes it to events like RADwood and the Concours D’LeMons, as it would be a really interesting vehicle to see! You don’t see these much anymore, well at least ones that are in nice condition. We want to thank Brian for listing it with us. If you have a low mileage survivor that needs a new home, please consider listing it here on Barn Finds!

Low mileage is bad on a motorhome.

Our family bought a low mileage motorhome in 1989 and it needed to be rebuilt from the ground up before it cold be taken on a trip.

All new suspension and every other rubber part had to be replaced.

Any motorhome should be checked over closely before purchase, especially at that price.

Update message, hell I even went to the Craigslist ad to check the unit out… and I’m not even looking for an RV. All my time with Barn Finds is time well spent!

Good time to buy RV’s is around March, April, before taxes are due. People are unloading them to pay Uncle Sam!

You can get a pretty decent, fully functioning motorhome for that price. This guy is dreaming.

True but the miles are the selling point on this one. If the drivetrain is tight and has no old seals or gaskets leaking it could make it a long way down the road.

My Father sold a ’97 Dolphin Widebody 36′ with a huge slide, 39k miles in 2014 that was immaculate, had every option including convection oven and washer/dryer combo. He listed it starting at 40k and when all was said and done, the best he could get was 20k… it was heartbreaking as he had paid just under $100k for it new, but mom had passed and he wouldn’t be using it any more so he let it go rather than just let it sit in the driveway. It had the Ford 460 V-8 and it easily outperformed the 454 Chevy he had in the Coachman he traded in on it.

Had access to a 1996 E350 40 foot motorhome with a 460, man did it eat gas, although pulling my 2001 Venture on a dolly 9-10 MPG was not too bad.

Not for nothing, but my 1990 Cherokee XJ with an I6 and automatic tranny gets 11 mpg. I’d say you were doing pretty well.
