The owner of this 1967 Camaro RS states that if you are looking for a pristine Barrett-Jackson car, then you’ve come to the wrong place. However, if you are looking for a super-clean and rust-free classic, then this might just be the right car for you. It presents exceptionally well, and the owner states that it could be used on a daily basis. The Camaro is located in Huntsville, Alabama, and has been listed for sale here on eBay. Bidding has reached $15,000 on the Camaro, but the reserve hasn’t been met.
The owner says that the Camaro started life finished in its current Granada Gold, but that he believes that it underwent a repaint around 15 to 20-years-ago. If this is true, then the paint has survived quite well. The owner does note a couple of recent minor touch-ups but acknowledges that the color match for these is not terribly good. He suggests that the next owner will probably choose to have this work redone. The hood has been replaced at some point in time, with an SS version taking the place of the original. The owner doesn’t mention any issues with rust, but his suggestion that it wouldn’t take much work to transform it into a Barrett-Jackson car sounds quite promising. Certainly, there are no obvious signs of rust issues, and when you look at the condition of the chrome, trim, glass, and the grille, I find it pretty easy to place the car’s condition well towards the top end of the “daily driver” category.
It appears that the Camaro is a numbers-matching car, but it has received a few mechanical upgrades in recent times. The 327ci V8 under the hood was originally equipped with a 2-barrel carburetor and would have produced 210hp. The engine now sports a new intake and a 4-barrel carburetor. However, the original items are sitting in the trunk, and are included in the sale. The Camaro has been fitted with headers and a new exhaust system, but the original exhaust manifolds are included. Similarly, the engine wears some aftermarket dress-up items, but the original items such as the valve covers are in the trunk. The original Powerglide transmission is still in place, but once again, upgrades have been performed. It has been treated to a rebuild, and a manual shift kit was fitted at the same time. In what could be seen as a sensible move, the car now wears power front disc brakes. What amuses me no end is the fact that the owner goes into great detail about the work and upgrades that have been performed on the Camaro, and how awesome it sounds with the exhaust that is fitted, but he doesn’t mention once how the car runs and drives. Whoops!
We get a lot of photos of small sections of the Camaro’s interior, but not a single larger one. However, these photos paint a picture of an interior that is in fantastic condition. I tend to agree with the owner when he says that he believes that the carpet is relatively new because the pile does look different from the genuine item. The dash looks perfect, while the seats and door trims don’t show any signs of rips, tears, or staining. There is a cluster of aftermarket gauges mounted under the dash, but the rest remains completely original. Everything is also said to work as it should, even the factory radio.
This 1967 Camaro RS is an extremely tidy vehicle, and even though it has received some modifications in recent times, the vast majority of these could be reversed relatively easily. Values on the ’67 Camaro RS have remained pretty static in recent times, but given the overall condition of this one, coupled with how readily the modifications can be reversed, I suspect that the bidding might have a little way to go yet.
Very nice, although I personally prefer the ’69. GLWTS!! :-)
I’m usually not a big fan of gold car’s. But seeing the condition of this Camaro I would for sure, be interested in this one. The owner has done the same upgrades I myself would have done. If only cash wasn’t a problem right now, I would love to have this car in my garage.
If I bought this, the first thing I’d do, remove all the parts rattling around in the trunk, lol.
Very nice.i had a 68. Would love a 69 ..id take this 67 in a heart beat.
Love the look of the rs package on 67/68 camaro that grill just make the car! Would love to have this little pony car.
15k max on this car. If it had the proper 4spd. trans. maybe more. Over all looks great. Good one to restore.
$20,100 and reserve STILL not met.
That whole “Barrett-Jackson” perfection thing bugs the sh_t out of me. Based on what we see in these pictures, why would anyone need a nicer car? All the energy and $ to get that final 5% of perfection seems stupid. At some point all the cool old cars will be 100% perfected and stuffed into the warehouses of the wealthy for speculation. By the time the hoarders die, all the young folks will have lost interest in driving cars and moved on to something “virtual” but affordable.
Happy Festivus
There are some great Barrett Jackson and Mecum Auction cars. On the other hand many, if not most, don’t look that hot when you see them in person.
Just a fun hot rod Camaro, meant for driving, parking at the local burger joint car show, cruising the beach towns… that stuff.
Why a butt ugly 2019 Camaro when you can have this? Beautiful.
I always liked the Firebird better, but these are nice as well. Gold colored cars were fairly commonplace back in the day and looked quite nice with the right trim.
Merry Christmas
God bless America
Merry Christmas Fellas!
Anyone want to put this RS under my tree, go ahead!
I’d like to be querulous though. The write up says it has been fitted “with a manual shift kit”. Do they refer to slushboxes on a center console down under as ‘manual shift kits’?
Just asking.
A great little drive though
Very nice Camaro as it sits right now, to cherry it out would be a disservice only because that would likely make it a museum piece, @ Mountainwoodie, a shift kit is valve body spacer plates & different check balls that re-route fluid to increase firmness when you move it from L to D. Being that they state this is a manual shift kit means the transmission has to be shifted manually from L to D. Generally these 2 speed Powerglides respond better with a change of torque converters too.
Thanks Moosie……….. So its a Powerglide enhancement. I learn something every day!
Happy Festivus to you too George.
A friend of mine had the same color car in high school!! It was the same color with a 350 and a 4 speed!!!! He had a spoiler on the back with a pot leaf in the middle and on one side it said smoking gold!! It was a cool car and he constantly was harassed by our teachers!!! It was a cool car though!!!
Not a Barret Jackson one but it carries a high Mecum reserve on it. Everyone thinks theirs is a pile of gold so he’s probably got a $70k reserve knowing it wont reach that. At end of auction, the calls come in asking what res was. That’s when the real negotiation starts and it sells w/o ebay getting their jack on it.
That looks like a 68 hood. 67’s came with the finned hoods.
