One of my favorite listing “types” is a mish-mash of cars offered for sale by a guy who is likely similar to many of us: a variety of vehicular interests, all colliding together in a cinder block garage. The seller of this varied collection has decided that his interests have changed, and although each of these cars drove in under their own power, they will all need to be towed away. There’s something for everyone in this collection in Delaware, from big American cruisers to European GTs. Thanks to Barn Finds reader Anthony M. for the find.
Obviously, the car in the top photo is the one that the seller is most excited by, as it’s a pretty unusual find. The 1958 BMW Isetta is said to be very complete and in decent enough shape that it could be made to run prior to pickup. The description also notes that the Isetta bodywork is in good order, with original paint still covering the outside. The seller is asking $13,000 for the Isetta; on the opposite side of the size spectrum is this 1963 Pontiac Catalina convertible, equipped with a 389 and a new interior, for $9,000.
This is the one that caught my eye: a 1980 Porsche 928 with a decent respray (seller’s words, not mine) and an automatic transmission for $6,500. Although the 5-speed would make it more of a “must buy” for me, a 928 listed by a seller who sounds like he knows what he’s talking about is more of a priority for buying one of these classic GTs. The 928 market is pretty soft, however, and the seller’s reference to now being a good time to sell due to rising values makes me scratch my head a bit; if anything, the hobby car market is in a bit of a retraction at the moment, and an older 928 with an automatic isn’t going to go much higher than its current value.
There are several other cars mentioned in the listing, like this 1966 Cadillac DeVille convertible that the seller describes as an easy project. You can also make out the car next door thanks to its signature wheel design as that of a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado. Other cars mentioned include a 1986 Pontiac Fiero GT and a 1989 bmw 635CSI; clearly, this man liked big American convertibles and European GTs. All in all, some very cool finds listed here on craigslist, and close enough to my present location to be dangerous. Which one would you rescue from this Delaware garage?
I like how the licence plate on the Isetta is nearly a third of the width of the car. Price seems rather large also.
I’d go for the 1969 Yamaha motorcycle L5T-100cc 3 speed for only $750
All the prices are high for the unknown problems you are getting. One of them said ran when parked…. My granddaughters Kia minivan was running and driving when we drove it on the scale at the scrap yard, that didn’t increase the price the scrap value
You should have listed that Kia minivan on Barn Finds :-)
Interesting collection and descriptions – the asking price for the Porsche 928 and Pontiac Fiero are the same at $6500.00 – that has to make some 928 owners unhappy and give some Fiero owners bragging rights.
Do you wear it or drive it? I got shoes bigger than that! When you can read the tire size on the car next to you that’s too damn tiny. Golf carts are much bigger than this. Enough with the jokes. Shoot me if you see me driving it.
