Supernatural Tribute Project: 1967 Chevrolet Impala

Who remembers the science-fiction TV series Supernatural? It ran from 2005 to 2020 on WB/CW and was about two brothers as they went on a search for ghosts, demons, and all sorts of other supernatural beings (hence the name of the show). One of the brothers drove a menacing black 1967 Chevy Impala Sport Sedan, which became the show’s “signature” vehicle. The seller’s car was something of a tribute 20 years ago but no longer has a powertrain. From a driveway in Lenoxville, Pennsylvania, this rolling project is available here on eBay for $10,900. An attaboy goes to Mitchell G. for another out-of-this-world tip!

We understand that as many as nine 1967 Impala 4-door hardtops were used throughout the 15-year series that produced a whopping 327 episodes. Mechanically, there wasn’t anything special with the cars used, most having 283 or 327 cubic inch V8s under the hood with 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmissions. One car was reportedly beefed up with a GM 502 crate motor. The appearance of the show Chevy, with its dark color, multiple doors, and a large trunk, was thought to suit the tone of the show rather than that of a 1965 Ford Mustang as originally envisioned.

We’re told that this Chevy was once a show car, though we don’t know if it had any real association with the TV series. It’s been sitting in a driveway for 20 years, thus idle for part of the time the characters were on the screen. It also wears dark blue paint instead of black. The passage of time and an encroachment by Mother Nature have done a number on the floors and rear quarter panels. The frame is good because the Impala sat on gravel and not dirt. It also needs some new glass.

The seller says the vehicle once had a 350 V8 (not period correct?) and a manual tranny (3 or 4-speed and where’s the clutch pedal?). Check out the side exhaust (fake?) and the bright blue paint all over the engine compartment. Plus, get a load of the wide assortment of horns! This could be an interesting car to restore in the vein of Supernatural, though it’s far from being as iconic as the 1966 Batmobile or Green Hornet Imperial.

There’s only one reason why they gutted this car of its drive train. It’s a total rusty disaster underneath that wouldn’t be worth restoring if they gave the car to you.

What a mess. Just because the seller says it was a show car doesn’t mean it was nice or done well, lots of “show cars” aren’t/weren’t. The seller will be lucky to get a fraction of their asking price. A Camaro or 2dr Chevelle of the same year in similar condition would probably have a hard time getting the asking price of $10,900.

Sam and Dean couldn’t exercise the demons this car possesses. Not for $10,900 anyway. It does look like it has some good parts on it though.

More like super fan. It’s hard to believe someone would actually pul the trigger on this. I wish the new owner good luck with their new project.

SOLD – then relisted immediately and for the same asking price?

The seller should be ashamed to even mention the Supernatural show in the same breath as this turd.

I had one but frame rail rotted out and transmission about fell out. Body was good but underside wasn’t.

The only resemblance to John Winchester/ Dean’s car is the color, there was no chrome trim on the sides ( No hands definitely, Dean would have said someone “Douched it up ” ) as well as the blue interior with a Bench seat ( Instead of Black Buckets ) While it could be easily turned into a Clone ( If the Undercarriage is good ) it would still cost plenty, to bring it up to Dean’s prize Chevy !

“Once had a 350 V8” – one of the greatest sales comments I’ve ever heard.
