It’s amazing how the right surroundings can sometimes work wonders for an automobile photo shoot, with pleasure boating and cruising in a convertible going hand in hand to represent fun outdoor summer activities. However, this 1972 Ford LTD would present decently no matter where it was photographed, and though this one’s not quite perfect, the seller says it’s always been properly cared for and well maintained. This full-size droptop is in Seattle, Washington, and can be found here on Craigslist, with our thanks due to reader Curvette for sending in the tip! This cool ragtop is priced at $7,000, which I think is a reasonable ask.

The owner is quick to point out that this LTD needs new roof material and would also benefit from some cosmetic improvements. Thankfully, it appears to be in fine structural condition, with no obvious rust or corrosion on the body. It’s also sort of a rare unit, as Ford produced just over 4,000 convertibles for the final year this land yacht was available with a soft top. There’s no word on whether the paint is original or the exterior has been resprayed, but this one gives off vibes of retaining a lot of originality, and I’m a fan of the hubcaps and whitewall tires here.

The interior is in surprisingly good shape overall, especially for a convertible that’s reportedly been driven nearly 200,000 miles. A few repairs have been made on the front seat with black tape, but these are minor and not too much of an eyesore. Sending out the bench for some fresh vinyl would probably be a good investment, and fortunately, the dash, instruments, and most other inside components appear to still be in satisfactory condition. It’s also a plus to find that this one is equipped with power windows.

The seller mentions that the remanufactured 351 Windsor engine has roughly 30,000 miles of use and states that it runs well and is ready to be enjoyed during these upcoming summer months, which is apparently about the only time this one is driven under its present ownership. Considering the rarity here and the desirability of a full-size seventies convertible nowadays, there seem to be far more positives than negatives, and I’m sensing the seller has priced this 1972 Ford LTD quite fairly. What do you think?

I’d love to have this.
Wish I could afford these cars like I used to. :( thank you for having me.
More than reasonably priced based on condition. It does have over 190000 miles on it, minus the rebuilt engine. Would be real cool to drive this to the local car shows.
nice car 35k on a reman engine could make a nice fair weather drivers’ car for an ok price
This looks like a nice driver, too bad I’m only 2,900 miles away from it. If it were closer I’d jump on this.
Nice to see a decent car priced properly to sell.
Lets hope this is a new trend in the hobby. 99% of old cars are not “investments”. They are for enjoying while they last.
really clean convert. never know by looking at it that it has that many miles, new top and redo the front seat and you golden. price is more than fair. 1 just sold the other day on BAT for a lot more than what the ask is on this.
Doesn’t most everything on BAT sell for more than anywhere else?
Power windows that kids take for granted were an option even on some Cadillacs back then. On a convertible this sz you wouldn’t have to crawl into the back seat to put windows down after the top.
Priced at $7,000 is a bargain.
Not a FORD guy, but always had a soft spot for this year and model. Maybe Gator caused it. Definitely looks like a fair deal. Maybe it’s the photography background; I even like the yellow.
Love the Springtime Yellow! My parents’ 1972 dealer demonstrator was an Ivy Glow (green) Country Squire. Learned to drive in that big monster. My Mississippi grandmother’s 1972 LTD was a Brougham model. Would love to have this beautiful convertible. At the reasonable asking, would have room to replace the top and add Vintage Aire (in central Louisiana A/C is a necessity rather than a luxury) and still have a reasonable drivable investment that doesn’t break the bank. Unfortunately it’s too far away. Hope it fins a great new home.
This is a good deal. Someone will have a lot of fun for the $$$ with this.
That does look a good buy at that price, I have a 1967 same color as that out here in Oz, only mine is Right Hand drive with a 390. For that money a new roof and have the seat repaired that could be imported here and still make a $ on it. H’mm has me thinking on this car. I’d need to get it inspected first though.
Nice. Good potential
