I am typically not a huge fan of cars wearing Black paint, but when an owner selects Triple-Black with sparkling chrome, classics of that type are often irresistible. This 1966 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham is a perfect example of that philosophy, presenting superbly. It has no apparent needs, with the seller facing the heart-breaking decision of parting with this beauty due to failing health. I must say a big thank you to Barn Finder T.J. for spotting this beautiful car.
Describing this Cadillac as stunning wouldn’t be an understatement. Its Sable Black paint shines like glass, with no visible flaws or defects. The panels are laser-straight, and the original Black vinyl top is in excellent condition. That is particularly noteworthy because this classic spent a considerable period in Arizona. That means it was exposed to some of the harshest UV rays on the planet. However, the lack of deterioration suggests it has been garage-kept when not cruising the streets. If the paint is like glass, the exterior trim holds an equally impressive mirror shine. The impact is accentuated by the wheels that started life on a Cadillac Eldorado. The tinted glass looks flawless, and the car’s overall appearance demonstrates how the whole can be greater than the sum of its parts.
It is disappointing that this seller supplies no engine photos, but we have seen this as a recent developing trend at Barn Finds. However, lifting the hood will reveal a 429ci V8 that sends 340hp and 480 ft/lbs of torque to the road via a three-speed automatic transmission. This car tips the scales at 4,861 lbs, so while there is plenty of power and torque on offer, acceleration will be relatively sedate by modern standards. However, cruising at 70 will be effortless, and the power-assisted steering and brakes will make life easy when tackling city traffic or confined spaces. The seller claims this Caddy has a genuine 75,000 miles on the clock, and while they don’t mention supporting evidence, I find the statement plausible. It rolls on a fresh set of Hankook tires and is a turnkey proposition for its new owner.
The seller limits the interior shots to the Cadillac’s back seat, but it paints a positive picture. The Black interior upholstered surfaces show no evidence of wear or other issues, with the same true of the matching carpet. What is visible of the dash and pad looks nice, and there is no evidence of deterioration on the Walnut surfaces. The seller indicates that the air conditioning blows ice cold, while other luxury touches include power windows, a power front seat, cruise control, a factory radio, and folding rear tray tables and footrests.
Parting with a classic due to circumstances beyond your control is a bitter pill to swallow, but is one faced by the current owner of this 1966 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. They have listed it here on Facebook Marketplace in New Albany, Ohio, with an asking price of $28,000. That doesn’t make it the cheapest car on the planet, but its overall presentation seemingly justifies the figure. It is also worth considering that these cars have been star performers in the classic market during the past year, although value increases have slowed slightly. However, it could perfectly combine luxury with long-term investment potential. That sounds like a winning formula to me.
At one time I had a (plum colored) 1965 Caddie; what a cruiser, although part of the time that I owned it was during the 1979 oil crisis – not the best time to have a gas guzzler. It had embroidered seats and the best A/C I’ve ever had in any car.
Cadillac started bumbling and fumbling when they came out with the Cimarron (which was a gussied up Cavalier)., then slapped their badge on an Opel and called it a Catera, then decided “hey we’re just like BMW” and came out with the ATS, which proved Cadillac wasn’t . And they still don’t have their focus. The cars they are building now could have and should have been revived and re-imagined Oldsmobiles, and Cadillac should have remade themselves into a truly premium brand.
I wouldn’t turn down a CT5 Blackwing. It, along with the CT4 Blackwing, are widely considered to be the best performance sedans available today. They’re not Cadillac’s traditional forte, but they’re proof that there are still some things Cadillac does very, very right.
Beautiful. This is what Cadillac needs again instead of those pretend eurocars!
When Cadillac still WAS The Standard of the WORLD. What a stunning beauty, fit for a funeral, formal occasion or The GODFATHER! Hopefully someone will make the owner an OFFER he CAN’T REFUSE! 🔫 🏰 😉
“Get into my big black Cadillac”, and IMHO the best Caddies were from ’61 to ’72. All of them, big beautiful land yachts that cruised down the road with class. And dammit the things were “‘Murican”, they didn’t try to be another Mercedes or BMW.
My dad had a ’65 Fleetwood Brougham and what a real beauty! Wish I had the room for this one in my garage!
Classic, elegant, timeless. I love it.

SORRY REX! Welcome back to the GALYS! Guess I forgot the secret word. But $50 doesn’t go as far as it used to!
I can’t think of any thing to add to what has already been stated. In my opinion the 66 Caddy is the most beautiful post-fin Cadillac ever to grace the highways
Now THAT’S the car I really want! Had a Calais 4-door hardtop and loved it! And being the doting uncle
that I am, I’d hand my niece the keys
whenever her young man comes calling and tell them to have a good time! My Uncle had a ’65 Fleetwood but I don’t recall his having those tray
tables in the back. I sure hope Angel
sees this one, it’s just her style. Not
enough pictures here to do a really nice portrait of this car but that’s what
Google’s for. Been putt-puttin’ around my workshop finishing some work
before Helene comes roaring through.
I’ve almost got my friend’s ’59 Mini
Cooper done and then it’s time to
finish a custom made 2001 Dodge Ram for a customer. Hopefully, I can
Get both portraits done before the
storm comes calling. If not, I’ll pack it
up and wait til it passes by.
Such an elegant car, inside and out. My preference would be for the original wheel covers. The sabre spokes are a bit showy for such a tasteful and refined automobile.
30 yrs. ago I had one exactly like this – except that it was dark green w/caramel colored padded vinyl roof. The entire interior was caramel colored. Everything. Seats were brocade cloth & leather. Not as nice as this one, but very spacious inside. It got 11 mpg.
A great long-distance highway cruiser.
More or less, “exactly like this”.
My dad had an all white standard 66 fleetwood, not a Brougham, no tables or feet rests, or vinyl top, but aĺ white with the black brocade interior, my most favorite car that my dad had. Like many other comments, this is what a cadillac was supposed to be!!
This car IS a Cadillac.
I try to think of how many 65 and 66 Cadillacs I have owned and always did all my repairs. I never liked the 66 because all the outside lamp lenses had the screws hidden, the 65 did not. And let’s not forget about having to drop the back bumper to change the rear lights unlike like the 65. Yes, Cadillac decided to put (2) 1157 bulbs in each side but eventually, both went out.
My dad had one of these when I was 16. He let me borrow it for date nights. Sweet memories. I’m 72 now.
Why did my very long reply say 403 can’t reply to this post?
Staff….. I’ve been having a lot of problems lately as a paying member getting my replies posted
Stay on it. I like your comments.
Please email us directly with any concerns. Thanks!
Hi Angel! I was wondering if you’d seen this one yet! It’s really awesome
and fits you perfectly. If my comment
posted on the Greyhound bus article,
I left you a reply there. It was a story
about being in Vegas and how I balanced playing music on the road and going to school. Yeah, it was hard but worth it. If it didn’t post, I’ll
tell it to you later. Time for me to hit
the sack though. 6:00 comes mighty
early and we’re gonna get some dashing done before Helene comes
calling. Good night💋 Angel, night
all.
I have seen this car in person many times. It’s beautiful.
if i would’ve been born rich instead of good looking this caddy would be mine, what a great automobile

Hey everyone! Thanks for the wonderful comments. Ya’ll make me blush and that’s hard to do.
Rick, Frog, Kenneth, Cadillac Kid, Rex, all you land yacht lovers and GALYS members! ❤💯🌹
Ya’ll know I’m opinionated but that’s part of my charm.
Just left a scathing reply on the 1975 Cadillac pickup conversion. Hope I don’t get booted off BF.
Misinformation just drives me crazy! Especially when it comes to Cadillacs.
CC I completely agree with you. Some cars are way too classy and elegant for ostentatious wheels.
Part of the very long post that never got published was around the early 70s my father had a ’66 Sedan de Ville and actually let me borrow it a couple times. He never let me use his ’72 Coupe de Ville. I had to steal that one once.
But back to the ’66, it was black black interior and I think a cream vinyl top. I was like 19, who can remember?
But ya’ll are right, that car was me as this Fleetwood is more me. 🤣
Had a BF in 1972 who sold his beat up ’67 Mustang convertible and bought a ’65 Coupe de Ville in Steele gray. Beautiful car, ride worthy of a Cadillac. Cruising up route 287. Unfortunately he ruined it by putting not only wide gangsta’ white walls on it but FAKE gangsta’ whitewalls.
That’s funny. I remember going to Millers Auto Supply and Joe The Motorist Friend to buy my accessories for my 65 Cadillac when I did not want to wait for JC Whitney orders to arrive.
I bought some white glue on tire letters for my sidewalls. I spelled The Cadillac Kid on all tires and cruised through Hbg, I was so cool until I hit 40 and they flew off!
Hi Angel! I don’t see where you’d be
kicked off this site for your opinions
on that caddy. From what I saw, you
weren’t profane or argumentative, you
were just expressing your opinion on
that caddy. If they give you the boot,
it only shows how narrow minded some folks really are. And honey,
I can tell you firsthand there are a lot of
narrow minded SOBs out there–especially when you have a disability
like I do. I’ve dealt with those kind of
folks my whole life . And I can tell you
they don’t like it when you find a way to beat them. It really pisses them off
when you win. I recall a time when I
was doing meet and greets for the Taco Bell I worked at in the early ’90s
My GM called the local newspaper to
do a story on me as I was just one of
two disabled people working in Polk
County Florida back then. Well, after
the story broke, I went to work that Sunday morning and got mobbed by
a large mob of people who came to
see me! I didn’t get a whole lot of
work done that day as I was shaking
hands and signing autographs for all
those folks who came out to see me
that day. Not long after that, our parent company, Orlando Enterprises,
set up a series of meet and greets at
Quincy’s Steak House in Winter Haven
I’d get off work at 7 or 8 PM and my
wife and I would go over to the restaurant and make ready for all that. They formed a receiving line
where I’d stand and do my bit to grow
our store. One night, I was greeting
folks when these two women came
through the line. One was young and
9 months pregnant and the other was
her mom. The young lady was about to shake hands with me when her mom stopped her and told her NOT to
shake hands with me because her
Grandchild would be born with same
vision problem that I have! Talk about
narrow mindedness! We couldn’t believe what we’d just heard! That was 1991 and sometimes I still think
about it today. And it still amazes me
that we still have those kinds of people out there. Hope this makes you feel better dear. Good night Angel 💋 and don’t let ’em get to you.
hey rick w, we may of born good looking, but already been tooken
