First-generation Ford Broncos continue to skyrocket in value and in light of the newest Bronco being released, they will probably continue to be more popular than ever. This 1966 is a first-gen., first-year, which makes it even more special. Add the fact that the rear quarter panels haven’t been trimmed along with the original condition and you have a pretty special ride. It can be found for sale here on facebook marketplace with an asking price of $24,500. While that might seem like a lot for a vehicle that doesn’t look too attractive at first glance, you can bet it is probably a solid investment. Check out the rest of this one.
Overall, the body looks like it is in pretty good condition. Although it is located in Sandy, Oregon, there are no obvious major rust issues that are fairly typical with these rides. The ad does say it spent the past 20 years in a barn in Eastern Washington. You can also see the rear quarter panels haven’t been trimmed to accommodate larger wheels and tires which is a fairly common modification. The interior tub has also been coated with bed liner material. Hopefully, it was done to protect and preserve and not cover up anything although the ad does say it has “new floor pans.”
The engine is obviously a straight-six that is backed by a three-on-the-tree transmission. The ad doesn’t really mention the running condition other than saying “Everything works like it is supposed to.” They do mention some new parts including the gas tank, radiator, carburetor, and exhaust. You can also tell from the photo that the distributor cap and fuel pump appear to be new.
Overall, this seems like a pretty solid ride. It appears to have been advertised for quite a while and hasn’t sold yet. Maybe the seller is not flexible in their price or perhaps there are some things scaring away potential buyers. Why do you think it hasn’t sold yet?
One question: the ad says “originally a u14”. Meaning what? That it’s something different now?
Oh, and please…no U2 jokes.
not sure.
I DO see some more new stuff (not a bronk seat, may B falcon, stang, chero or other, at least the cover) same 4 rear bench, T-case shift knob & more. Cool to see where the draft tube would have been (3rd pic). As she sits I’d say priced right (bought my ’70 for $500 in ’82 & took 3, 4 of these to make 1 good’un) but imagine it to almost double at purchase time. Last winter these were the #1 seller (sales price) but have come to 23rd or something now…
This one appears to be pretty solid and cool to see the rocker stripes still on it along with the bumperettes in the original ‘narrow’ configuration up front. I think it’s a little pricey for a 6 cylinder wagon with a bench seat though.
chad wuz posting as I wuz.
my comment wuz abt “…Why do you think it hasn’t sold yet?…”
But:
“…Meaning what?…”
the U13, U15 R the 1st ‘places’ on the vin # indicating a ‘roadster’ (shipped/sold no top, doors, etc) and ‘wagon’ (full top). I don’t remember a “fourteen” though…I havea rag, 1/2 cab & wagon top. After 50 yrs these rigs can B anything (almost) U want…
I also have ’77 ‘flipper dors” on the gas tank filler (’77 only feature), ’66/8 ‘eyebrow grill’, etc. The featured bronk is as I like ’em – basic. Price? now w/the net they cost whatever the last guy standin will pay (a shame in my mind). Auctions are not fun for me. Additionally I hate FB mrktplace as it seems to be a “show, no go” display/not sell (in my experience) format.
I’ve been following this on Facebook for awhile and it actually was posted as sold last week but must the sale must have fallen through. Maybe some “issues” are not shown in the listing.
Too much money! The new Bronco will be superior and cost about the same or a little more.
Is that a duplex pump I see vacuum wipers in 66 this really is a poverty pack 25 grand is ridiculous the market had lost it’s perspective another 10 or 15 to get it up to scratch crazy just as well parts are reasonable cost phew
