Uncut: 1971 Ford Bronco 302 V8

This 1971 Ford Bronco U15 is located in Downington, Pennsylvania. It is painted maroon with a white interior. The Bronco is equipped with a 302 cubic inch V8 engine and manual transmission. A number of excellent pictures of the Bronco are shown here on eBay in the listing. There are three days remaining in the auction and the Bronco is currently bid to $18,100 after 14 bids. The reserve has not been met.

The Ford 302 cubic inch V8 engine is said to start right up and run well. The seller bought the Bronco three years ago and believes it had been sitting for 17 years. The engine is shifted via a column mounted 3-speed manual transmission. Recent engine work includes a new radiator, coolant hoses, new 2 barrel carburetor, valve covers, exhaust manifold, distributor, voltage regulator, fuel pump, alternator and master brake cylinder. The exhaust was replaced two years ago and the seller installed a new CV joint and 9 inch rear axle during his ownership.

The interior shows well and has new carpet and new upholstery on the seats. The Bronco has also received a new headliner. As far as rust repair, the floorboards on the both the passenger, driver and rear seat have been replaced. It appears the floorboards have been riveted in place based on the pictures. The seller also states that the door jambs were replaced as was the passenger rocker panel. The front grill was pitted with rust so it has been replaced too. The steering mechanism has also received work.

The Bronco sports aftermarket wheels and the maroon or burgundy paint has been shot at least once. The truck shows some dings in the body work including the hood. The seller reports that the engine starts right up and runs well. However, the engine is original and does smoke on start up. This Bronco could be driven as is or continued to be restored.

    It’s an automatic and looks very weird with these tires, looks like something is missing or wrong. May be an earl shieb paint job that looks off too.

      It’s definitely a manual – say so in the ad. Plus, the seller mentions that he has replaced some of the “on the tree” shifting parts.

      Not sure what the floor mounted shifter on a first gen Bronco is for.

        Four wheel drive- high/lo range.
        The three on the tree in these were known to develop problems in the linkage. I replaced mine with an aftermarket floor shifter.

    same color mine might have come with, 1 yr newer – wonder if that’s the ‘Rangoon Red’? Lotta new stuff frm this/last owner. Falling from #1 sales$ in late winter to this 1 at 22K$…I’d say the bubble may have burst (can’t say on 1 sale tho). 18K – 25K$ seems more reasonable to me, all the updates (if true).

    Yup, tires/wheels not much (1st change w/ new ownership?). Oem was about this sz, a 7 inch wide tire (on 7, 8 inch rim) @ 15 inch (5 or 5.5 bolt circle). The 1st 6 yrs came w/a 6.5 wide tire. We’re just used to the modern and modded, lifted, etc. I think it was a 26, 28 inch dia. Today we like 33 inch mimimun. “17 da new 15” they say…(car, truck, suv like this).

    The shifter on the floor is for the transfer case. I think bronco are kool 4×4 but with the new production I just dont see how anyone would pay this kind of money when you can buy one looooooaaaaaadeeeeeed for 50,000 and it has all of the greatest technology.
