Cadillac reinvented the Eldorado as a personal luxury car in 1967 and added a twist: front-wheel-drive. It was based on the Oldsmobile Toronado E-body platform launched the year before, also as a FWD. This beauty from that first year is described as a “mint survivor,” so who are we to argue? It looks gorgeous and is said to run flawlessly. Domiciled in Omaha, Nebraska, you can drive it home for $24,750, and it’s available here on craigslist. A huge “wow” goes to Tony Primo for this great tip!

To execute the Eldorado, Cadillac borrowed Oldsmobile’s FWD package and paired it with its own 429 cubic inch V8, using a TH-425 automatic. That transmission was developed specifically with the Toronado in mind. Oddly, the Buick Riviera used the same platform but stuck with the more conventional rear-wheel-drive layout. The buying public responded positively by purchasing nearly 18,000 new Eldos in 1967, about triple that of the previous rendition.

We’re told that this sharp Caddy has had just two owners who treated it gently over its 59 years and 73,000 miles. Both owners did a good job of recordkeeping, and we assume those documents will transfer with the sale. The seller says it’s just been serviced, at least in terms of fluids, and it should be able to travel any distance to get to its new home.

The body, red paint (with no vinyl roof), and black interior all come across as flawless. It always stayed in a garage when not in use, which helped preserve the condition of this fine automobile. Even the factory air conditioning blows cold, which you’ll need in a summertime trek from the Heartland. The tires appear to have plenty of meat left on them, so we assume this will be a turnkey purchase. Are you a fan of these RWD Caddies?

Gorgeous.
Uh that’s FWD.
I think he just had a brain fart. He wrote front wheel drive at the beginning of the write up before ending with RWD
Was never a big fan of red cars until seeing this Eldorado this is in a word gorgeous what a looker.
We currently have two red cars (1956 Baby Bird and 2019 Mustang GT). Since we have a 3 car carport, wonder if we need to fill that empty bay🤔⁉️ Ooooooops! My wife just saw me writing this😬. Oh well, maybe next time. BEAUTIFUL ride!
I have a brain fart when it comes to understanding how the Riviera fits into the E-body platform.
The Riv does not share a running gear with the Toro or the Eldo; the floor pans are different; the body panels are different, except maybe the roof, I’m not exactly sure; interiors are brand-specific, so that doesn’t match; maybe the glass is shared, but what else?
Surely someone here can shed some light on this. How is the Riviera related to the Toronado and the Eldorado, especially given that the 67 Riv platform was an extension of the 63-65 Rivieras? It has always puzzled me, this association.
You are not alone….
And one more thing: aren’t the 66-70 Rivieras still on an X-frame? I rest my case.
what a really nice car. not my kind of car, but id’ consider it if I had a garage big enough. someone will end up with a great piece of history.
very nice caddy. not a fan of red on this car. very sharp interior. the cut up fuel line needs to be addressed though. poor job done there.
Gorgeous. How many gallons per mile?
Oil Burner
Gorgeous Eldo but plastic seats? Kills the whole luxury vibe!
Plastic seats? That uphostery is cloth and leather.
Can anyone verify that this is not a scam?
My Packard fit in my garage after I sawed out part of my work bench… this land yacht…would not…
Seems like a very good price, as i look at these whenever they pop up.
But I wonder how good of a paint job is it? Looks can be deceiving.
Still, so many areas overall look very nice…
This red 1967 Eldorado reminds of its twin that Paul “Red” Adair, the famous oil well firefighter, used to tow his identical red dragboat to our 1968 summer Austin Aqua Festival. His son Jimmy accompanied his dad with his own red Olds Toronado and red dragboat. They would join in racing other dragboats on a timed section of the Colorado River just under the I-35 bridge.
This car looks PERFECT. If I just had another parking spot in the toy box.
Beautiful car for sure and a future collectible, looks to be in excellent condition, will have to have deep pockets to afford to drive this huge cruiser. A bit on the pricey side but could be a good investment if it looks as good as the pictures also could be pricey to fix all the electrical doo dads on this car…
