After a flourishing first generation, Chevrolet introduced a redesigned Camaro for 1970, which featured the same basic body style for the next dozen years. Plenty of owners took the liberty to add custom touches to their F-Bodies during this time, but this is the first one I’ve ever spotted that’s gotten the rear clip from a Corvette station wagon added, which is a rare piece in and of itself. Actually, it was Barn Finds reader Rob who first found this one here on Facebook Marketplace, and we’d like to thank him for sharing the tip with us! This oddity still needs completing, so if you’re up for the task, this unusual creation is located in Fort Collins, Colorado, and it’ll set you back $8,500 for starters.

It’s never mentioned if the seller has done most of the work so far, or if it was acquired with the creativity already in place. There’s still some work to be done here, but this one appears well on its way to becoming the awesome showpiece the owner says he envisions once completed. I feel like most of the Corvette wagons used side glass in the back, but that’s not the case here, although the rear window is still intact. Wide fender flares have also been incorporated, and the front features what looks like quad rectangular lights borrowed from either a 1976 or 1977 Chevelle or Monte Carlo.

The inside consists of what appears to be more Camaro parts than not, with the front buckets being a nice upgrade and looking comfortable for some cruising. Another fun feature is the aftermarket B&M shifter, one of those cool pieces that provides both form and function at the same time. The only photo we get from the rear of the interior is through the open hatch, but it’s only a peek and doesn’t show many details.

Little information is provided about the powerplant, other than it’s a 350 and that the side pipes coming from it are brand new. Like the outside, with a little more detailing, the engine compartment has the potential to present very nicely. I’m guessing the finished product here will look a lot better than this one as a work-in-progress, and you also won’t have to worry about anyone else appearing at a show with another one like it. Any thoughts on this 1970 Chevrolet Camaro and the direction it’s headed in?

A whole lotta White Lightnin’ Bondo here. I know, the temptation for the Colorado MJ bit will be strong on this one, but even if so, it shows it could be used for creative purposes, and the proceeds help keep my apt. warm, so puff away. Naturally, I think it, and all these “creations” are pretty neat, the amount of work that goes into these, on a whim sometimes, well, this person has an understanding spouse and a vivid imagination, not usually shared by anyone else. Not some million dollar Barris creation, just a backyard creation our country is, or was known for. I can hear it now, “how’s Fritzs car coming along”? It is pretty cool, and note to seller, it should be finished for any real appeal, otherwise out comes the motor and that’s that.
What in the wide Wide World of Sports is a goin’ on here
My thoughts precisely!
Ugly and overpriced. The quality of the work doesn’t look particularly good, lots of work left to do, you aren’t getting much for the asking price.

Is this available?
Clark Griswold’s ride for the midlife crisis national lampoon vacation……. :)
Some things should just be illegal to do.
I like it! The square headlights work with the grill opening. Maybe Corvette ZR1 taillights? I can visualize a big “keep on truck’n” mural guy on each side.
Um… Dare I say, it’s kinda cool…
What an eyesore
Needs windows in the back that wrap up into the roof like on theTrans Am Kammback show car. This isn’t nearly as clean as that car was. This back end on a C3 Corvette worked because the car was a lot shorter, it doesn’t look nearly as good on the Camaro, and it badly needs some kind of windows back there Here is a link to the Kamback show car. Also looks jacked up and the front fender flares are ugly.

OMG..
I would rather see a 4×4 underneath this failed art project and i dislike that too 😎
Good luck 👍🏼
I’d pull the drivetrain and send it to the crusher.
Ghet-to!!

Not the worst back yard custom I’ve seen…
Close though. What a piece.
It takes a special kind of moron to screw uo a car thus badly.
NOPE
Had to be there – don’t hate it, kinda admire it.
This thing is so weird I kinda like it, personally I think I would change the rear tail light area to be a tailgate and get one of those El Camino bumpers with the tail lights in it for the back. Still thinking about what if anything I would change the front out to, I think it also needs small round windows on the back sides. It’s custom so build it how you want it
A vivid reminder that hallucinogenic drugs were very popular in the 1970s.
It’s, uhm, unusual.
Halloween came early.
Only thing Id change is lowering the back of the wagon roof so the roofline was straight without the dip. Otherwise, not bad.
Can anyone say “Wicked fast panel delivery?”
Who changes a second gen Camaro front end ?? R/S split bumper ,and Kammback rear glass would make a helluva one off
That’s the standard front end with the bumper removed, the RS has a urethane extension on the nose and relocated turn signals.

As rounded as the Camaro in 70 was I think 65 to 67 GTO stacked round headlights would have been a better fit. Otherwise it’s definitely creative.
like it better than the trans am linked.
“Potential” here. So…
means I’d look deeper (& I’m nota cheb guy).
An operational lift back, no ‘spoiler’ there. My jury’s still out, on the 4 headlghts. OK interior, frnt view, frnt 3/4 view. Side view (again w a y beddah den da trans am linked) could tone down the wheel flairs. (that wide could get some huge tires or longer axels for performance) Rear 3/4, yes need narrower wheel well ‘flairs’, no ‘spoiler’, operational lift, back/wiper(s) for that window. Full Rear view, same.
Mechanics? fine I guess, auto transmis OK if w/an OD gear on top.
One comment: I’d like to see a ‘sail panel’ triangle window (@ least on pass’s side for intersection safety). Need to do a ‘photoshop’ mod to model out the consideration. If OK, then two (1 each side) would go in.
All it needs is 15 colors of lacquer with flake so big you need an undercoat gun to shoot it.
I kind of like it. It definitely needs rear side glass. Small rectangular possibly. Right now it looks like a Camaro sedan delivery without rear doors. The flow of the body works for me. Especially the flow into the rear fender flares. I’m not a fan of the stacked headlamps however.
Reminds me of the World of Wheels shows I loved to go to in the ’70’s & 80’s, if it was finished, of course.
Some say a Vega looks like a 60% Camaro, similar styling.
(a local has a Vega with an LS, and it sports Z-27.5 badges)
This guy seems to have achieved “made my Camaro look like a Vega Wagon”, which is amusing, though not too desired in the marketplace.
Is this what happens when you can’t afford a ‘vette to ruin?
Is today ugly Chevy day?
It’s interesting that back in the time the Vega was in its infancy it’s rumored that a couple of FIAT 124 Sport Coupes were found in dissected condition out behind the Chevy R&D facilities. The Vega turned out to be a pi$$-poor copy in most minds.
I kinda like it. Would probably try to integrate the front flares with the chin spoiler.
Monstrosity.
Please Step away from the welder and put the pipe down
Ah 8500? Someone was overly optimistic!
Are they or are they not Monte Carlo lights added in as well along with all the other nonsense ? What a pipe dream !
Oh, the humanity! The Bondo!
If that thing ever gets his you’re going to see the worlds biggest Bondo dust cloud.
If someone buys this pipedream they better not go down bumpy roads or across railroad tracks with all of the bondo. There’s a couple of hand built cars I’ve seen locally, one an open air speedster and the other built from 16 flat sheet metal pieces which resembled a ’32 Ford with a rumble seat. The frame for the second one was culled from a ’57 Olds from a field in the Philippines.
Both examples much more aesthethically pleasing than this.
There was another cobbled up mess on here sometime back that someone said should go off a cliff somewhere near Anchorage. This one should follow it.
I would rather see a stock bodied 2nd gen camaro with IMO a much better 2nd gen transplanted firebird dash. Or a ’69 camaro with IMO a much better ’69 firebird dash. I wonder if either mod has ever been done.
