10 Cheap Projects For Sale In Ohio!

A collection of ten project cars and trucks has popped up in Ohio on craigslist, and it represents a nice variety of vehicles for reasonable prices. Among them is this classic 1959 Chevy Apache pickup for $3,000. The seller also has three boats and a 2014 motorhome, but the cars are the stars here. Find the full listing of vehicles here on craigslist.

This MG Midget is one of two MGs the seller has, and I’ll bet an enthusiast would love to snag that OEM hardtop. The other MG is described as a rolling chassis for $200, and this one is listed at $800. Not shown here but also among the more intriguing vehicles for sale is a 1975 Bricklin SV1 for $2,000.

I don’t know why, but I’m particularly drawn to this 1985 Nissan 300ZX Turbo. It may be because it looks very complete, and there are many of these cars that have become utter basketcases over the years. This one also hasn’t been modified, another rarity. However, if it’s an automatic, the interest level drops dramatically. It’s listed for $1,100.

There’s also this cool 1969 Buick Skylark station wagon, with an asking price of $2,000. Other highlights include a 1959 Chevy panel van for $2,000, a 1939 GMC flatbed truck for $2,000, and a 1969 Chevy car hauler for $3,500. There’s seemingly something for everyone, so which project would you choose?

The Appaches and old station wagon
look interesting and these would be my choosing ..
The others not exciting to me..
The prices look a lil high but I bet if one
goes out and look with cash 💰 there’s some wiggle room

The Vista Cruiser (or is that only an Olds name) is cool, as is the 300Z turbo. I sort of like the 69 Chevy car hauler (in concept anyway). Can you spell Ohio without ‘rust’?

Had the misfortune of living in Dayton for awhile. Between the and the NE, I swore that I’d never own a car from there. These days, I live far from there…and always chuckle when people from those regions see a couple of my cars and are amazed that the panels are 100% original. My ’95 Ram (gotta own a truck) you can even see factory marks on the frame rails.

yes the Vista Cruiser was associated with Oldsmobile, I was surprised when I saw this Buick represented as a Vists…General Motors being produced then shared 5 different platforms and I’ve seen many different combos living in Tonawanda New York…home to Chevy engine and axle, diff and brakes.

My favorite car there is that red 300ZX Turbo. Always loved the Turbo Z cars. That faded orange looking paint should buff out nicely to it’s correct shade of red. If this Turbo Z is an automatic, it’s actually faster than the 5 speed. The only reason I clicked on this topic was due to the corner of the Z sticking out behind the Chevy pickup in the first photo.

I like the car hauler but you would need a 18 wheeler to get it home, also like the 59 Chevy Panel but I would rather have a Ford Panel.

I like the Sport Wagon and the Bricklin. The Buick would get all the upgrades to the suspension and some minor to the powertrain.
I worked at a Bricklin dealer (how many of you can say that!?) and was at the headquarters in Michigan the day before they locked the doors! (I say I was the nail the last nail in the coffin as I threatened to sue as I was injured in the back lot. ( I was just kidding) These were junk when new. So I think a resto-mod that I would chop the top (but leave the “Targa Band”) and go full out on the drivetrain. (Ford or AMC which ever this one came with.) It would be the only one at the cars and coffee/car show! And it would not cost that much to do as everything could be sourced as you could find. The hardest part would be re-hanging the doors as the “gull” portion would get removed from taking out the roof. You could make your own “targa top” and not worry about the windows. It would not take in any more water than leaked in from the factory!

Good luck selling the boats. My buddy used to own a bone yard here. He took a fiber glass boat in one day, ended up taking to much space. So they torched it, that black smoke rose out of the pit and over to the highway a half mile away. They closed the highway untill the volunteer fire department could get out there to put it out. He said he would never take another.

A buddy of mine wiyh a good sized chunk of land had someone drop off three fiberglass boat’s thinking he’d make some money on the scrap. After being stripped he was left with the hulls which became mosquito havens for several years. One of those was finally converted to a flower planter, the other two where buried.

With the amount of rust and rot evident in the pics, those prices seem steep.

Looks like a great opportunity for an adventure. Here’s my plan. Head out there, spend a few days getting the car hauler running and stopping. Load the ’59 Chev panel on the back and head home.

    What could possibly go wrong?

There are some interesting examples here but I have noticed just how many projects are out there. It never ends. The asking prices are high, often for cars that need everything to be done. Considering where our car market is going I wonder how they, the sellers, justify the asking price. In many cases they are sitting on piles of scrap metal that was once a car/truck.

The only thing I don’t like about sales like this is that there really isn’t much in the way of pics and info for each car. I like the Chevy Apache and the Buick Sports Wagon. It would be great to own both. Would also like the camper.

I like that Buick wagon. If I was closer I would start with the $2000 and deduct $200 for each rusted panel. Bet I could get it down under a grand!

That is not even close to a factory MG hardtop on the Midget, but to be clear, it is definitely from one of the “original equipment manufacturers.” I believe it was called a Pony or some other horse term. Ugliest top ever made for a tiny car…too many windows! Good luck sourcing some of the curved glass on that baby. 8 bills is too much for that Midget. I get driving ones for that price, without the suspect rust issues that can’t be seen. I like the Buick wagon, I’ve had three Skylarks from those years.
