Before I delve too deeply into the story of this 2000 Chevrolet Camaro SS Convertible, I must give the seller a pat on the back. By photographing the car in subdued light, they have managed to emphasize its sweeping lines and seemingly flawless paint. I must say a big thank you to eagle-eyed Barn Finder T.J. for spotting a classic that is guaranteed to turn heads. It has a genuine 17,000 miles on the clock, carrying the hallmarks of a car that has been treated respectfully since Day One. The only thing this beauty needs is a new home, with the seller listing the SS here on Craigslist in North Scottsdale, Arizona. They set their price at $26,000 but are willing to consider offers.
This 2000 Camaro Convertible is the second Fourth Generation SS we have seen in a little over a day. This one will cost the buyer more than the seller of the previous car was asking, but this one stands head and shoulders above it when the subject turns to vehicle condition. Its Code 41 Black paint holds a shine that perfectly reflects its surroundings, with no evidence of deterioration. The panels are laser-straight, and the car’s dry location has allowed it to remain rust-free. The Black power top fits beautifully, and I suspect that it hasn’t seen much action in the last quarter century. With the trim, glass, and wheels appearing flawless, this Camaro has no cosmetic needs.
It is always nice when a classic has more than one string to its bow, and this Camaro delivers on that score. Its engine bay houses Chevrolet’s legendary LS1 V8 that delivers 320hp and 345 ft/lbs of torque. Shifting duties fall to a four-speed automatic transmission, while the car also features power steering and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes. Is this car fast? With the ability to scorch the ¼-mile in 13.8 seconds on its way to 162mph, the answer to that question is a resounding “Yes!” The seller states that this SS has a genuine 17,000 miles showing on its odometer, and although they don’t specifically mention verifying evidence, the listing seems to suggest that it does exist. They say that the engine produces plenty of power, and I’m not shocked by that news. It recently received a service, running and driving perfectly. It seems that flying in for an Arizona vacation and driving home behind the wheel of this muscular drop-top is a viable option.
This Camaro completes its Triple-Black look courtesy of its leather-trimmed interior. I’ve scrutinized the seller’s images and can find nothing to criticize. The prone outer seat edges look excellent, there is no wheel wear, the plastic hasn’t waved the white flag in the face of the Arizona sun, and there are no aftermarket additions or modifications. The seller claims that it retains its new car smell, and I can’t help thinking that this classic wouldn’t look out of place on a showroom floor. It isn’t all about the looks, because there are plenty of features designed to make life aboard this SS safe and extremely comfortable. There are twin airbags, climate-control air conditioning, power operation for the windows, locks, mirrors, and seats, cruise control, a leather-wrapped tilt wheel, and a premium AM/FM radio/CD player with wheel-mounted controls.
I am unsure whether this 2000 Camaro SS Convertible is perfect, but it ticks two crucial boxes for potential buyers. The first is that it presents beautifully, virtually guaranteeing that it will turn more heads today than when it rolled off the lot. The second is that it is completely original and unmolested. This is a key consideration if someone is contemplating the future investment potential locked away in this drop-top. The Convertible version from this model year typically commands a 10% premium over the Coupe, but it is worth noting that values remained fairly static in 2024. However, the seller’s price looks fairly competitive, and that could see it heading to a new home fairly soon. Are you tempted to make it yours?
You’re right Adam. I’ve never seen that car look so good.
Dang. And I was in the area last week. A nice-looking car. Decent performance, low milage, AZ climate, clean looking overall look – what else would one want. Let me ask my wife…. Honey?

Black or Silver paint seem to suit these the best.
Not a lot of these around that are this good. High “Wow”factor.
