With winter fast approaching, now might seem like an odd time to splash the cash on a classic Convertible. However, nothing could be further from the truth. The cold weather allows the opportunity for an owner to spend time in the garage, double-checking that everything is perfect to ensure trouble-free summer top-down cruising. This 1967 Dodge Dart Convertible could be an ideal candidate. It is a tidy, solid classic with a healthy V8 under the hood. It has a claimed 73,000 miles on the clock, meaning it should offer years of reliable motoring enjoyment to its new owner. The seller has listed the Dart here on eBay in Saint James, New York. Bidding sits below the reserve at $11,101, but there is still time for you to stake a claim if you view this Dodge as an automotive “must-have.”
Dodge released its Fourth Generation Dart in 1967, with the latest model featuring a substantial restyle that gave the car a squarer stance and a more aggressive appearance. Our feature car rolled off the line during the first production year, and while its Code W White paint is quite conservative and understated, the Black power top offers a striking contrast. The seller doesn’t mention a history of repairs or restoration, suggesting this might be an original survivor. The panels are straight, featuring tight and consistent gaps that may indicate careful ownership. However, these classics are prone to rust, which can rapidly devour floors, trunk pans, and rear rails. Potential buyers have nothing to fear with this beauty because the seller states it is rust-free. The trim and glass are in good order, and while the Rallye wheels aren’t original, they suit this car’s appearance perfectly. Those preferring a more stock look should have no trouble sourcing a set of steelies and the correct hubcaps.
Buyers could order a ’67 Dart Convertible powered by a 170ci slant-six, which offered respectable performance. However, this car’s original owner bypassed the six-cylinder powerplants entirely, opting for the 273ci V8 producing 235hp and 280 ft/lbs of torque. They decided to hand shifting duties to a three-speed TorqueFlite transmission, but it appears they passed on the luxury of power assistance for the steering and brakes. The listing indicates this Dart has 73,000 miles on the clock, although there is no mention of verifying evidence. The car recently received a new exhaust, new brakes, and a gas tank, and the carburetor was rebuilt. This drop-top runs and drives perfectly, making it perfect for a buyer seeking instant gratification.
Arriving at a show or Cars & Coffee behind the wheel of this Dart with the top down will not cause the next owner embarrassment. That is because this interior presents superbly for a vehicle of this vintage. The Red vinyl upholstery not only looks striking beside the White paint, but it is free from rips, tears, UV damage, or other issues. The carpet is equally impressive, as are the dash and pad. There are no aftermarket additions and a lack of factory options. However, the original AM radio should allow your favorite tunes to blast forth as you cruise along with the top down and the wind flowing through your hair.
This 1967 Dart Convertible has attracted thirteen bids since being listed by the seller, and I suspect it will attract a few more as the auction progresses. It is a tidy classic with no apparent needs, suiting an individual seeking a turnkey classic. That description may apply perfectly to you. What would you be willing to pay if it does? More importantly, are you tempted to bid to that figure so you can take it home?
It’s a 66 .. not a 67.
Agreed, it is not a 1967. The eBay listing now has as a 1966 which is correct.
Great looking Dart with a great engine. Question tho – – is music still played on AM radio? Or is it mostly a niche market?
Yes, but not many. Most of the ones that still play music are Spanish language stations, but there are a few left. I listen to WMEX (AM 1510 kHz) in Boston occasionally, when I can’t find anything good on FM, LOL! WMEX is a classic “Oldies” station, playing tunes from the fifties, sixties and seventies. I graduated high school in 1977, so that’s right in my wheelhouse, LOL!
There’s a great one in Shamokin, PA, 1480 AM, WISL. They play classic rock 50’s thru 70’s.
I listened to WMEX and the other AM giants of the northeast back in the 60s. When AM was king.
I still listen to WBZ 1030 when I decide to commute into the office near Boston.
Traffic on the 3’s.
Grew up in Chicago… WLS You could pick it up half way across the country on the right night.
Whattaya Shamokin??
nice looker and up graded to electronic ignition, to boot
1966 model. If title or registration says otherwise all flags are red. Beautiful car hope it’s just an oversight
As Donovan says, it is a 1966, had a 66 2 door sedan, identical body style, but still a great looking car.
Before I read or make comments – I go to the ad linc first – it’s listed as a 1966 in the Ebay ad.
I had a 67 dodge dart GT This is definitely Not a 67 But that wouldn’t stop me from betting on it Cool car, so far had a good price.
I had a 1967 Dart GT Convertible. This one isn’t. I believe it’s a 1966. The lister needs to go back to school and Barn Finds should also know better. It is a nice looking car however and could be a great buy for someone.
There appears to be fitment issues with the front bumper and driver’s side door. Additionally the driver’s side rocker panel appears to have some rust beginning to show. I would ask for a lot more closeup pictures before I gave this a serious look.
site/writer has all ways been invested in our nowledge. No biggie.
Hada ’64’n 66 wagon. I’d need a garage for this (top protection).
Cant forgo the current inside (prieum) space. Kinda like the 6
(any’n all) beddah. This might B interesting & therefore temp-
ting to hop up suspension, breaks, etc, etc.
Nice looking Dart Convertible, this is a1966 not a 1967.
Back in the day I saw a lot of Darts but I never saw a convertible.
My concern is the front seat material has a different pattern than the rear seat, don’t recall if front and rear were different back in the day? Nice car love convertibles, have three just sold the fourth, this one is all White! In my book 😂
They didn’t even try to come close with that front seat. Someone did it on the ‘cheap’ rather than doing justice to the car and doing it correctly. When i see stuff like that, it always makes me wonder what else they scrimped on.
Nice car! It’s not perfect, it’s not going to be very fast, it’s not a hot rod or a muscle car…. but.. it’s probably not going to cost a fortune and it’ll be a great cruiser on a warm sunny day! If I had room, I’d be bidding.
I had a 65 just like this. Only it was white with blue interior. What a great little car, I wouldn’t have traded it for any Mustang Convertible of the same vintage
No sale, didn’t hit reserve. 14K seems about right for this little Dodge. Shame it’s on Lawn Guyland, too much of a trip just to check it out.
