The Fury was a mainstay in the Plymouth lineup throughout the 1960s. During the 1962-64 period, the car rode on a smaller platform (the new B-body) as a result of some bad intelligence as to what GM was planning to do with its full-size cars. As a result, sales dropped substantially and would only begin to recover by 1964 with some tweaks in the styling. The seller’s ’64 Fury 2-door hardtop is a beautiful machine that’s said to have its original drivetrain, a 383 cubic inch V8 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission.
This Fury sports the attractive new slanted roofline that debuted in ’64. Not quite a formal look and yet also not a fastback, the styling of the 1964 Plymouth Fury was a decided improvement over the 1962 editions (IMO). When the 1965 model year rolled around, the Fury was back to being a full-size car again like the Chevy Impala and Ford Galaxie 500. We’re told this Fury is largely stock though it’s had one repaint which looks to have held up well.
The seller believes Plymouth’s claim of 33,000 miles is accurate. That’s based on what the person he/she bought it from told him/her and personal experience with classic automobiles. Yet it’s hard to imagine that such a beautiful and powerful car would have been driven this little in 60 years. We’re told all the body panels are original and the chrome trim is nice and shiny. The front bench seat still wears one of those see-through plastic coves, though the rear has been removed.
We’re told the car has power steering, front disc brakes (were they available in ‘64?), and a Flowmaster exhaust system, which is a departure from stock. The wheels have been replaced and the ones in the back are wider rims wearing bigger tires (maybe the vehicle has air shocks to raise the rear). The seller says the Mopar is a pleasure to drive, and it will come with a transferable registration as Maine didn’t do titles before 1995. Great handle
The ’63-’64 Mopars changed everything at racetracks all over the country. Drag and stock car. Until the hemi was banned in ’65, they literally dominated drag and stock car racing. It took Ford and GMs 427s to bring them down. These were altered into some of the 1st funny cars, and the King ate them all for lunch in the roundy-round. USAC too had great success with these. The condition of this car defies what happened to most of these.
Nice car, has the most uncomfortable seat covers ever invented! Luckily they are easy to remove.
In 1968 I bought a Special Order 64 Sport Fury with a 413 & Torqueflite. Same colors as this one. I had American Mags in front and Creagers in the back. Car also had factory air shocks in the rear. Loved that car but got married and started a family. Sold in 1971. I also had a 70 formula 455 4 speed firebird. Kept the firebird. should have kept both.

I love everything about this Plymouth. Reminds me of a ‘66 383 4-speed Polara I had. Broke a lot of Trans-Am hearts with my old Dodge. I’d leave the wheels just as they are here. It kinda give it that “Fu@k around and find out” vibe.

Gorgeous. I always like the 64 Fury body style. And this one has a 383, a bench seat, a 4 speed, power steering and a brake upgrade. Like a time warp back to 1963. The only thing missing from this would be a 63 Galaxie or 63 Impala to line up against at a stoplight and…
I’m more familiar with the 66-68 Furies, and I know some of those came with a front disc brake options, but I’m pretty sure it was drums all around in 64. So she’s had a front disc conversion done, which is nice. Without knowing more about the car, that 33k original mileage is hard to verify. I’d ditch those wider rear tires and have matching shoes and socks all around.
I had a red 64 four speed it had a 361 in it real dog I ran it against u 65 Ford Galaxy 352 hands down beat it
